Nice long weekend. Barrie's Saturday night cook out was a success though she barely made it to her birthday. Lots of pool time and a nice Monday on the beach. Once again, I forgot my damn camera so no new photos to put up yet. Sorry.

Memorial Day Weekend

Well, the long weekend is almost upon us. Happy birthday to Barrie on Sunday, she's a whopping 23! Looks like a weekend of cookouts, rum drinks, beach lounging and sleeping in. No waves to speak of but I guess that's something I'll just have to get used to for a while. Have a great weekend all and I'll catch up with you on Tuesday!

Just wanted to say what's up to my old friend Craig Meyers, up in Jacksonville, Florida. I just found out he's now a dad. The last time I hung out with this kid was his bachelor party at the Frat house (won't mention anything else on that matter). Congrats big guy.

I made my way up to Boynton Beach last night because I saw a small break in our usual surf spot. By the time I got there it seemed a few others had seen the same ripple. I caught two quick rides before the lightning began to get too close. At least I got in the water... I feel better now.

Wow, just read a recent story in the Cincinnati Enquirer website about a recent event. A 16 year old high school student beat his 18 year old brother to death about 4 blocks from where I used to live. It's the equivalent to Mizner Park here in Boca. I can see the crime scene in vivid color in my mind as I used to drive through there every day. The high school they went to is one of the most expensive schools in Cincinnati. Let's just say it's not you're typical crime. Read the article here.

Just kidding. I am a bit on the tired side. The concert last night was a blast. Just packed a case of beer in a cooler and a few folding chairs in the Jeep and headed to Mizner Park for the Allman Brothers Band. Very cool show.

Not so good. Let's just say it sucks. At least the countdown has begun for Costa Rica. At best we may cross our fingers for some minor wind chop later in the week but I wouldn't hold out much hope.

Barrie and I went to see the final episode in the Star Wars pre-trilogy last night. Not bad. Loads of special effects and action and light on the romance (good since II sucked because of it). Yoda... still a bad ass. Overall a pretty good flick.

Ah, a nice little surf session last night at Boca's South Beach pavilion. Every time I take the new fish out I love it more and more. Last night had my first big bottom turn, sweet. I don't know how many good rides I caught last night but I had fun. Still managed to dodge the sea lice too, so that's a good thing.

Today looks to be more of the same wind chop. Yesterday was bigger than Tuesday, so hopefully the trend will continue through the weekend. I plan on taking the SuperFish out today and catching a few after work.

Looks like the sea lice at Boca was worse than I thought. Both Dan and Thanh-Ha got it pretty bad and now both have flu-like symptoms. Hell, Dan's even got a fever. Feel better guys.

The swell model up at WetSand has once again changed (of course). Looks like we will still have surf this weekend just not quite as big as originally forecasted. Monday looks to have some size though (looks like a sick day coming up).

Waste High Surf Session at Boca

Ah, a nice little surf session at the Boca South Beach pavilion. Sea lice and kelp aside, it was a good time. Lots of nice little rides. Also met Thanh-Ha, another cool surfer. I always seem to meet the coolest people out on the waves.

I just ordered a Ukulele from MusiciansStorehouse.com. Hey, why not. Could be fun to take on the trip to Costa Rica! And at that price I won't be too worried about it getting damaged.

I Know It's Early But...

WetSand is predicting some good surf coming up this Friday and through the weekend. 2-3 footers on Friday building up to 5-7 feet on Sunday. The swell model could change by then but over all it looks very promising. We'll just have to put up with little 1-2 footers until then.

Good morning. Yet another Monday marking the end of a nice weekend. Another weekend spent on the beach in search of decent waves (and occasionally finding them). Boynton seemed to be most prosperous this weekend while Boca... well it sucked ass.

Last night's desperation surf session proved more frustrating than anything. Nothing rideable unless you wanted to end up slammed in the sand. Say it ain't so, this can't be all we get! If desperation calls for it I'm prepared to drive up coast this weekend to score some surf.

Finally, a new board for Damien. The drive up to Jupiter last night was well worth the trip. After getting all set up at Surf Magic surf shop, I headed up to just south of the inlet on Juno Beach. Not much in the way of surf but just enough to test out the new board. Exactly what I was hoping for. It  paddles like a long board and rides like a shortboard. I love this board... and it looks freakin' sweet too! I think I found my board for Costa Rica.

Looks like I'm running up to Jupiter after work today to pick up a new board! Whoo hoo! Island Water Sports in Deerfield was unable to get a 6'3" Seven Superfish in so I'm heading north. Looks like there may be some waves to try it out on once I get there as well. Crossing my fingers.

Surfline's calling for 2-3 ft chop over the next couple days so keep you're eyes on those webcams. I think I may head out after work today if it's rideable. Everything looks flat right now but we'll see if anything builds throughout the day.

Finally back up to full speed with the new operating system release (10.4 Tiger) for my laptop. One quick tip for anyone else out there going through the upgrade, run Monolingual after the install. It will free up about a Gig of disk space. It removes all unused languages on your machine. So far the upgrade has proved to alleviate my recent issues with my Mac.

It's that time of year again. My roommate is giving me the option to get out of my lease in mid July and it's an opportunity I'm going to take. I hate having a roommate! So, if any of you know of a decent place either in Boynton or Delray with a reasonable lease agreement and not too far from the beach (preferably east of 95) let me know.

Saturday proved to be one of the best days I've had surfing at Delray Beach in a long time. Ah, what a great day to be on the beach. Chest to head high sets on the outside and waist high sets on the inside. Long rides and one big smile on my face. Sunday, a quick trip up to Jupiter with Ramil also proved to be very prosperous. Same surf as Delray and even bigger during the tide change. I'm going to sleep like a baby tonight, that's for sure. Sun burnt and completely exhausted.

Hey boys and girls, it looks like we may actually have some weekend surf to ride. I'm probably heading up to Jupiter tomorrow afternoon with Dan and Mary just to get back in the water and get back on my newly repaired board. The weather's supposed to be beautiful all weekend so regardless of surf, it will be yet another beach weekend.

If our current dry spell for waves continues we may have to just pay for it. Literally. Dan, Ramil and a few others are gathering some interested surfers to join in a late night surf session at Typhoon Lagoon, a man made surf spot. And when I say man made, I mean we can actually choose what waves (rights, lefts, A-frames, etc.) we want to ride. It's a mechanical wave. It's a grand to ride, total (the more people, the cheaper it is per person). Drop me a line if you're interested!

Things are getting back to normal after yesterday's wasted day spent in repair. I hate playing catch-up at work. For you fellow surfers out there, Lake Atlantic is back and flatter than ever. No waves... none. I guess there's not much i could do anyway since Nomad's still has my friggin' long board!

Well, this has been a shitty day so far. Fair warning for all you fellow Macintosh users out there, be on the lookout for "hacktool.underhand" trojan horse. I've spent the bulk of my day running DiskWarrior to repair the damage and it's still not quite right. If I could only find the son of a bitch who wrote that one... I've been using Macs for years and have never... NEVER had a virus or a Trojan! So, up your virus software kiddos. Watch those Word and Excel files from our pathetic PC brethren because that's where it will come from.
