No News Is Usually Bad News
As usual a lack of news here usually means bad news (though not always so don’t freak out if I take a day off). Flower once again made the trek across Florida yesterday and in turn, I took the day off to be with her. It was great to spend the day with her but in the end the outcome is never what we’d like. I know there’s a lot to tell and I’m not sure I’d even like to go into it. Some, in fact, I guarantee I won’t go into. I guess the long and short of it is that Flower will remain one of my very closest friends and I hope that someday in the future we can sit out on a decent break and rip on each other for wiping out. Flower, you truly are an amazing woman and I hope things begin looking up for you very soon and know that I too still love you very much.  ... Permalink

And I Thought I Had It Bad
My sister and I were born on December 12th, 1976 and my Mom named me Damien after the original Omen that came out earlier that year. On my birth certificate it lists our street address as 666 Bernice St. Wilmington, Ohio. My Aunt was petrified to come and visit me as she was afraid I had three 6’s in on my head. When she did finally make it over she promptly picked me up to check (there isn’t, by the way). Ever since then the number of the beast has come up quite frequently and I normally laugh at my... The Day Of The Beast
Ha, looks like 666 is getting a lot of press today! Hell, even the weather channel had a piece on it this morning. Here’s an excerpt from the Philly Press: “More recently, scientists weighed in, pointing out that all organic life comes from carbon 12, composed of six protons, six neutrons and six electrons, or 666, an implication suggesting that trees, beasts and man share the same nature. An evil tree?” Sweet, evil trees! Just kidding. I’ll probably hold off on watching the new release until I can see it with Flower. The original (the one I was named after)... Continue Reading

Monday Surf Outlook
After a long boring weekend I really have no news to report. The surf remains flat through most of South Florida and looks to stay that way for at least a week. Lake Atlantic is back once again and it’s looking pretty bad. It’s odd, up north my mood was severly controlled by the weather. Down here the weather is usually pretty good, sunshine and warm days all the time, but now it’s still controlled by the weather. When there’s no waves I tend to suffer just like most surfers do. I need a change of scenery and soon, this... Continue Reading

The Friday Update
Not much going on this weekend so I have no idea what I’ll get into. The surf looks to remain pretty flat over the next few days so that’s out. I had a bit of a bug over the last few days that left me pretty grumpy. Like a sinus headache with a sour stomach. Not good but today I’m feeling much better. I wish I could make a trip over to Largo but Flower’s still looking for a place and unfortunately she has to work all weekend. It also looks like our pool will be closed all weekend as... Ripples
I had to do it even though I was the only idiot in the water last night. I was definetly pushing the limits as to what is actually rideable as far as surf goes. Tiny little powerless knee high chop but as usual, it was good to be in the water. Even if there aren’t many waves it’s always good to just chill on the board and recenter yourself. As powerful and dangerous as the ocean can get it’s also a source of great calm. Surf outlook: Not good for the next week. Looks like we’ll have to wait for... Continue Reading

3 am Is Too Early For Me
The alarm went off at 3:50 am this morning but not before my neighbors had a stereo bumping at 3 am. So I threw on a pair of Adidas pants and walked outside, stood in the parking lot with my arms crossed (like an old man) and glared in their general direction. They hurriedly rushed inside and shut the music off. My initial thought was “great, a 3 am ghetto party” but to my suprise it was a bunch of white kids laughing and thumping bass. Not what I really needed this morning. So I’ve been up since 3 am,... Continue Reading
