Dean hosted Alon’s 30th birthday party this weekend in Sunny Isles, Florida just north of Miami. Dean’s old/new girl Jen was in town from Cincinnati and lots of others joined the fun. A bunch of people I don’t even know were there too which was cool. It was a blast and to my knowledge everyone made it home safe and sound after the party was over. Of course I had to tote the camera along though some of the shots came out kind of blurry. Never-the-less here are the goods… enjoy! I’m sure there will be some additional photos surfacing sometime soon as I wasn’t the only one wipping the camera out....

This weekend was “test-drive” weekend after the whole Jeep fiasco. So I decided to give two SUV’s a shot. The Nissan Pathfinder and the Toyota 4Runner. Here’s how it all went down: Pathfinder – got to the dealership and was promptly greeted and I told them up front “just test driving today, not even thinking about signing any papers”. So Patrick put me in a Pathfinder SE with all kind of creature comforts and we went for a drive. This guy was hilarious and started giving me shit for “taking it easy”. “Let’s take it on 95 and open it...

If you’ve been looking for some new music or something a little different lately I’d highly recommend the Wood Brothers. Thanks for the tip Darin and Derek, good call. Enjoy the show this weekend in Chicago. “Ways Not to Lose, a new CD by the Wood Brothers, is a rootsy journey through American music that for much of the disc features just two instruments — acoustic bass and guitar. It’s hardly the careful approach implied by the title.” – NPR...

After dropping off the rental car and paying $116.33 for the rental car I had to wait around for a ride to the shop to pick up the source of the trouble. Great, you’re going eight blocks away… you’re last on the list to get dropped off. And you’ll have to ride with a guy who loves country music… and probably isn’t the best driver in the world. After an hour of wasted time I finally make it to the repair shop to fork over another $1,535.95 for the transmission repair. Thank God it’s Friday or I’d be really upset…...

Surfline’s calling for “flat and poor” conditions right now but looking at the webcam I know I can see surf and whitewater. Looks like we may have surf after all. I’m still in the rental so we’ll see if I have a chance to get out there and catch a few but come hell or high water I’ll do what I can to make that happen. I need surf…. NEED it, like a drug or something. Gotta clear my head and all of this bad mojo/funk that’s been surrounding me lately. Get out and catch a few rollers on the...

Half a bottle of PureCalm and a very hectic day at work and I’m completely dragging ass right now. Meeting after meeting, a lunch cut short by a meeting, rushing for small deadlines and on top of all that dealing with the added stress of a screwed up Jeep. I’m a tired boy right now. Looks like yoga will have to wait till Saturday morning, I really don’t have the energy to make it through a class right now. So for now, I’m outa here. Can’t wait to hit the couch for nice long nap....

Hello warpath! What the hell man? I just got a call from Simon the mechanic and it’s going to be another $500 on top of an already expensive bill to get the Jeep up and running again. He now says that there is water in the transmission and he’s got to charge me another $35 to flush that… and because the water’s been there for a while a few parts are pretty rusted and corroded. Mother fuck! That’s it, when and if I get the bastard back I’m getting rid of it. It’s also costing me another $40 a day...

My buddy Jay sent me this link this morning concerning an old friend of mine. I used to bartend at a little Lebanese restaurant called Andy’s Cafe’ in Cincinnati. A great group of guys who love to treat everyone like family. Hell, he used to call me his little brother as a joke. It seems he took his family back to Lebanon for vacation recently and got caught up in some bombing. Pretty crazy stuff! Check out the video link if it’s still available. So get the family back here safe and sound bro. I tried to dig up a...

Grrrrr, right out of the gate last night on the way home I pulled out of the parking lot… first gear… second gear….crunch. What the….? Third and fourth gear… gone. Fifth gear is still there but it looks like this one could be the deal breaker. So this morning it was fun drive to work with my new three speed transmission. Can’t do that for too long for sure, I’ll end up burning the clutch right out of it, and that won’t be cheap either. So for right now it’s at a local shop for an estimate. God I hope...
