As I walked out my house this morning to strap the longboard to the roof of the Pathfinder I suddenly noticed, hey, it’s chilly out today. 53 degrees to be exact. Sweet, it’s almost wetsuit season. There’s something rewarding about surfing in chilly weather, though the wetsuit neck tan does suck. Delray’s already showing 1-2 occasional 3 foot and poor but it’s supposed to be building throughout the day. Hopefully it’ll be rideable by 5pm because I need to get back in the water....

A big happy birthday to my bro Ramil who’s birthday was yesterday. And he never told us, the sneaky bastard. I just happened to pass him on A1A in the morning while taking my Mom and her friend for a drive so I phoned him. So happy birthday Ramil! Even though you’re 35 now you don’t look a day older than me. Hope you had a great one!...

Well the weekend’s passed and my Mom’s over on the other side of the state today. Her and her friend Missy stayed at my house over Saturday night and I gave them the dime tour from Boynton Beach to Deerfield Beach on Sunday. Lounged on the beach and by the pool and just caught up. It’s always nice to have my Mom around. Though I didn’t get too many photos on my camera, they got a few on theirs. Thanks for visiting Mom, I love you....

….and I feel like I woke up on the wrong side of the freaking bed this morning. I hate it when the day starts like this. At least it is Friday and I don’t plan on doing anything too hectic this weekend except show my Mom around town. No other news so I do apologize for that. The past week has been spent healing my back, cleaning up my car and around the house and trying to meet work deadlines. Nothing too exciting. I’ll probably be taking a few shots over the weekend, crossing my fingers the weather holds through...

Looks like the upcoming week or so is almost completely devoid of any rideable surf. Which really sucks because my Mom is coming in this weekend and like a little kid I’d like to show her I can actually surf, ha! Hopefully the weather will at least hold out and not rain too much when she’s down. Last time she came down they had to split because of a hurricane that was bearing down on us so this time I’d like to show her around a bit....

This one’s for you Matt. Boynton Beach is way down here man, no where near the panhandle. The red dots, well, you get the idea. I was thinking the other day about how many times you’ve asked me “how far away (insert city in Floriday here) is from me”. Hopes this helps. Just messing with you, bro....

Oh man am I sore today. I surfed from around 8:30am to around 3 pm yesterday and I’m still feeling it. I had one really gnarly wipe-out that tweaked my lower back pretty bad so now I’m feeling like an old man, grunting and groaning when I get out of my chair or have to bend over and pick something up. The wipe-out started out as a pretty good wave, paddled in and made the drop… almost. I decided to take a high line on the face since it worked well for me earlier on a fantastic ride. Once I...

Saturday Katherine and I drove to the middle of nowhere to check out Billie Swamp Safari, a tour through the everglades. It was actually pretty cool. Hopped a fanboat and flew around the swamp for about a half an hour seeing tons of gators and other swamp animals. Then we took the hour-long buggy ride through the bush. As usual I had the camera ready and shot a ton of photos. I’ll see what I can do to get the video I shot from the fanboat up later today....

Yeah, today’s the dreaded Friday the 13th. I was wondering why traffic was so light today. After reading this article on Paraskevidekatriaphobia it became clear. There are a lot of superstitious people out there. Here’s what I found online about the day: “Some trace the infamy of the number 13 back to ancient Norse culture. In Norse mythology, the beloved hero Balder was killed at a banquet by the mischievous god Loki, who crashed the party of twelve, bringing the group to 13. This story, as well as the story of the Last Supper, led to one of the most...
