No waves all weekend but overall it wasn’t too bad. Friday night in Delray was fun. I met Dan, Mary and Frederico down at Eros around 11:30 and went from there. After a few drinks and what not at the bar we all decided to head over Christine’s house for wine and an afterparty. I haven’t been up that late in a long time but the time just slipped away as 6:30 am rolled around in a hurry. I got home just as the sun was coming up and slept most of the day on Saturday. Wished it was raining outside but no, it had to be sunny and hot – just enough to make me feel guilty about being lazy all day. Saturday night was uneventful as I just stayed in and vegged out. Sunday Dan, Frederico and I ventured on a surf shop trip hitting Boca Surf and Sail and Island Watersports in Deerfield. I broke down at Boca and picked up a new 7′ 7″ McTavish Surftec for the upcoming trip to Nicaragua. Whew, I was sweating it today, literally. I spoke to Dan earlier this week about passport issues and the fact that mine expires in October. Yeah, it’s been 10 years since I lived in the British Virgin Islands, the reason I first got a passport. Anyway, he told me some countries require you have 6 months left on your passport before entering their country. Let’s… carry the one… yup, only 5 months left by the time we head off to Central America. Not good. Just kidding, I didn’t any new shoes but I did kind of learn a song by Paolo Nutini called “New Shoes”. Not bad but I recorded it about 6 times that night and I missed a few lyrics here and there. I have to admit I was a bit anxious about an email I got around 2pm yesterday from Bill, my boss. “Review” was the title and in my mind it’s the wrong kind of review…yeash. I hate feeling like I’m on the edge of losing my job…I like it here. As it turns out the anxiety wasn’t worth it. He and I worked out some problems we’ve had over the last two weeks regarding our internet access. I completely understand his point but from my point of view it seemed like a personal attack. You ever have one of those days where it just seems like you woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Not that it’s a bad day, just an “off” day. Our internet connection completely screwed today in the office so getting online and trying to get anything done felt like I was working in the 80′s on a 56k modem. So freaking slow! Ah, it was a good weekend. Lots of sun and lots of surf.. well at least on Saturday anyway. I surfed Palm Beach on Friday, Delray all day on Saturday and even had enough should to surf again on Sunday. Friday’s swell wasn’t that great but it was rideable. Not a huge fan of surfing in Palm Beach. For some reason I just don’t like that break very much. Saturday’s surf was pretty good. Dan, Mary and Frederico joined me out for a few hours in Delray. I just got an email from my old buddy JT and it dawned on me I don’t have any links to my old photo album. So Here you guys, access to the old stuff! Good times, good times. Halloween 2003, the Lakehouse trip, Skankorama, Matt’s wedding, New Years 2004 (when the boys came down to Palm Beach), St. Patric’s in Chicago and the list goes on and on. Eh, today was a bit on the slow side. I really didn’t get the best sleep last night and pretty much just felt a little “off” all day today. Thanks to everyone who left comments about Roxy – I really appreciate it. I just wish I could be with Mom, I’m sure she’d love the company. Weekend Surf – looks like we’ll have some decent surf this weekend, starting tomorrow morning we should see 3-4 foot building surf that should continue to get stronger throughout the weekend. My favorite Puppy’s gone… sniff sniff. My Mom called me early this morning sadly gave me the bad news. Roxy died this morning – our 90lb Rottweiler lapdog. The last dog at home that still remembers me. My Mom lost her mother a few years before and this loss is a big one. Roxy was a big goofball of a dog, flopping around everywhere and just a general lovable attitude. I wish I could be there for you Mom, I know it’s hard.
