Good morning all, yeah it’s finally Friday. Hopefully it’ll be a weekend I can completely relax and hopefully get some sun. Thought I’d try and take a picture of my incoming beard (or what I can grow in a week), haha. It’s coming in pretty spotty but eh, I’ll give it a shot. I grew it out over my Nicaragua vacation and kind of liked it. I don’t know, what do you think? Anyway, looks like I’ll be looking for happy hour after work today since it’s been so long since I’ve had one. Happy hour, not a drink. I think we’ve all seen proof I had a few last weekend at Eric’s wedding. Now it’s just a busy Friday to get through. Another added bonus – it’s Payday too! Gotta love Fridays!...

Yeah, in case you forgot there’s still no surf. Looks like it’s the flat season until we get our first tropical storm. This weekend the winds pick up but quickly turn off-shore, killing any chance we have of wind choppiness. Let’s just hope the weather’s nice enough to hit the pool or spend the day on the beach....

I recently watched Pan’s Labyrinth, a fairy tale with the real world of WWII despair and triumph. At first I wondered why they gave a movie like this an “R” rating… it didn’t take long to find out. Very viscous graphic. Oh, did I forget to mention it’s subtitled… from Spanish. The story is set in Spain during the second world war. A little girl named Ofelia and her pregnant mother travel to join her new father, a Fascist officer in the pro-Franco army. Her only escape is a fairy tale waiting to be unearthed. Really really weird but in...

It seems like it’s been non-stop since I left for Nicaragua with a five day break in between to catch up on work. It’ll be good to finally get back to normal. Catch up on laundry and clean my place up a bit. Yeash, it’s been a month since I last washed my car and even longer since I surfed my own break in Delray. Time to get back into the gym, back into Yoga and back to feeling like myself. Of course the second that happens it’ll be hurricane time but at least we’ll have some surf....

Congrats guys – wishing you both much love from South Florida. The weekend was a lot of fun as the whole Komala family gathered on the shores of the Chesapeak bay. Thanks to everyone for making it such a great time. Thanks as well to my little sister Sheizka for uploading her photos to my site. You can check them out here. Lots of good shots. Hopefully we’ll get the rest of the photos sometime soon. Once again congrats guys. Love ya!...

Looks like an interesting weekend coming up and I should have some stories to tell when I return. My uncle Eric and his fiance Sara are to be wed in Maryland over the weekend and I’ll not only be in attendance, I’ll be up on stage smiling at hundreds of strangers. Once I arrive in Maryland tomorrow I’ve got to catch a ride with some family members I don’t even know and ride about an hour to the hotel. Honestly can’t say I’m excited about that but whatever it takes. Thanks for the lift in advance whoever you are. Looks...

Every once in a while I get a message from my old island buddy Elton Wheeler. It’s been almost 10 years since I last saw the bugger standing on a dock in Tortola (BVI) as I sailed back to the states. It looks like he’s doing well after graduating from university in South Africa. I guess he’s working for a large American Investment firm out of London. He sent over an invite for me to visit him in Los Angeles next week but with all of my recent travel time I doubt I’ll be able to make it. It would...

Surfline’s showing a whole lot of nothing for the upcoming week as far as surf. The winds are south west and laying any chop we had over the weekend down to utter flatness. No real hope for any surf until the next tropical storm/depression. If this hurricane season is as active as they say it’s a double edged sword for sure. On one hand we’ve got the chance of devastating winds, rain and debrit along with weeks of powerless nights. On the other we’ve got good surf; well as good as it gets around here in the summer…. it’s a...

Five days later I’m beginning to get back into the swing of every day life both physically and mentally. Vacations sometimes seem more taxing than they really should be. For me it’s not the vacation that usually gets me, it’s the traveling to the vacation that wears me down. This weekend I’m once again traveling out of town for my uncle Eric’s wedding in Maryland. For the first time I’m in it – standing up in front of hundreds of strangers trying to smile. This should be interesting. At least I’ll know a few people. Pop, Eric, Sarah, Grandma Komala...
