Wednesday and not much going on yet. No surf to speak of but that may change by early next week (I hope). I’m really looking forward to heading home this weekend. Here’s the plan so far…
Fly in Friday and arrive around noon in Columbus where Sheizka is going to pick me up. From there I’ve got 5 hours to kill until she gets off work so I’ll be joyriding around in her car I guess. Friday night I’m heading to Mom’s house and hanging with the family all evening.
Saturday I hope to get on the road by 11 so I can make lunch with Surface, then off to Party Source for the liquor and beer run. Party starts when we start drinking at that point. Looks like there’s going to be a good crew in town, even Matt in Atlanta is coming up.
Sunday’s still up in the air but Bryan’s got a few party options for the fireworks though I’m not sure I’ll be doing too much partying. Flight leaves mid day on Monday and I’m back in the heat of South Florida. ‘Just hope no one breaks into my pad again when I’m gone. Should be a good weekend never the less!
Hanging in Lauderdale

Mark and Jordanna finally made their move to Ft. Lauderdale last week and invited me down for dinner and to explore the bar scene in their new hood. Mark’s place is amazing. Penthouse on the 22nd floor of a building right off of Las Olas Blvd. within walking distance to the primary bar district. Right on River Walk – lucky bastard.
Mark’s little 17 year old brother ,Greg, came down from Boca as well and the challenge became trying to get him into the bars with a less than convincing fake ID.
After dinner at Mark’s (the restaurant, not his house) on Las Olas we proceeded to a bar on the ocean where, right off the bat, Greg’s ID was yanked by security. Mark was able to buy it back from the bouncer but we were out of luck at that place. From there we went back to Las Olas but by the time we got back it had begun raining so we gave up. Headed back to the condo and had a few more drinks.
Mark’s building is sweet, with a full pool table and game room. Mark, Greg and I played pool until around 3:30 am and from there I’m pretty much drawing a blank. Woke up in the spare room and spent a few hours on the couch sleeping away the hangover.
For lunch Jordanna, Mark and I went to Hooters on the ocean and devoured 50 hot wings, a few Corona’s and some curly fries. Not sure if that made me feel better or worse but it wasn’t bad.

My favorite beach blonde turned… um… well I’m sure she’d kill me if I told you but anyway, she had a birthday this weekend sometime. I think. Happy birthday and I hope the consistent hangovers weren’t too much to bear
Are You F@$king Kidding Me?

I got the call around 4:15 this afternoon from Mark, the condo manager, that my condo was broken into. What the hell!??? Yeah, some local delinquents broke into my house using a crowbar on my front door. Broke the door lock, frame and door itself to get in. They then proceeded to snag my $1,400 Canon Digital Rebel (and case and card) off the counter and completely trash my bedroom. Emptied my drawers, dumped every box in my closet and went through everything looking for cash, drugs and guns. The police were on the scene when I got home and I made a statement and claimed what was lost. They took fingerprints and photos of the “crime scene”. They also broke into 4 of my neighbor’s houses in the same building. So far all I can see is that they got away with the camera. They left a checkbook, surfboards, DVD players and guitars. Luckily I took the iPod and little digital to the office today.
I now have a brand new front door and door frame as well as getting a heavy duty lock tomorrow (it’s locked and secured for the night). Right now I’m just extremely pissed that this happened and it’s just adding to my distaste for the overall area. I spent about a half an hour putting my bedroom back together and just cleaning up.
This economy sucks ass right now. People are filing bankruptcy left and right and unemployment is rising like crazy. When that happens crime rises as well. All I can do is shake my head and hope things get better but unfortunately I seriously doubt it.
The Assessment Fee Hits

So I was in attendance at our last condo association meeting the other day because they were going to announce the new “Special Assessment” fee. Granted this assessment fee will put new roofs on a few buildings and treat all of the buildings for termite damage as well as a few other things but damn man. We just finished paying off the last assessment for the canal cleanup that the city of Boynton Beach made us pay. This one is much bigger though and a much bigger hit to the wallet. Imagine your rent going up $450 a month for the next year. I’ll bet you’d leave wouldn’t you? I wish a hurricane would come and just totally wipe this damn condo off the face of the earth.
It’s happening everywhere, people’s property value around here has gone down so far that they can’t give the damn things away. I just got my Palm Beach County tax estimate for the year and it’s worth about 50k less than I paid for it. Granted my taxes are lower but that’s a small consolation to the fact that there is no way I can make a dime if I tried to sell it. No matter how I look at it, this condo is a money pit at the moment and my condo association is proposed I toss another 5k into the hole.
Ranting, sorry I’m a little bitter. Pardon my language but “Fuck this place”.
