Ill Days
The day’s almost over and it hasn’t been a fun one so far. Right after lunch yesterday I began feeling fairly ill, shakey and sick to my stomach. Not sure if it was a bug or just a bad burrito but it wasn’t good whatever it was. I had made plans to hit some golf balls with Neil after work and was really about 50/50 whether or not I could even do it. Especially since I spent about a half an hour or more overall in the bathroom throughout the latter part of the day getting some “magazine time” in. By the time we finished at the driving range I was feeling feverish and nauseous and achy. Upon my arrival at home I changed into some gym pants and laid on the cold couch. Not good. Downed two Tylenol PM’s, took my temperature (99.8 degrees) and went to bed without any dinner. Just wasn’t hungry. Throughout the night it was the same dream over and over and over and over, getting up to drink some Gatorade from time to time and falling back to sleep again. I would have called into work today but that probably wouldn’t have gone over... Continue Reading

Key Lime Pie Caper
Not long ago when my Mom came in to town I took her down to the Old Key Lime House for dinner and I convinced her to try their Key Lime Pie, which they’re pretty famous for. Needless to say we had to visit it once more for another slice of pie before she flew back up to now chilly Ohio. Ever since then she’s been on the hunt for the recipe, trying various ones and each one not quite measuring up to the one she had down here. “It’s just not quite right” and some “were just aweful”. So... Continue Reading

Could Have Been Better
In more ways than one. The surf was smaller than expected but overall it was rideable. Thanksgiving day was small in Delray but I stuck fast to my tradition. Trish and I lounged around on the beach half the day after catching a few rides on meager surf. Friday’s surf was much better though I had to drive up to Jupiter to get it. Clean, east northeast swell and offshore winds gave rise to super clean 3-4 ft perfection and not a sole within 300 yards. I had a break all to myself for about two hours. Saturday yielded no... Thanksgiving Traditions
Everyone seems to have some sort of Thanksgiving tradition. For most it’s traveling home and visiting family for a giant feast and then passing out in front of the TV watching football. For others it’s spending the day cooking and prepping said feast and enjoying it with the ones they love. Mine is a bit different. I’ve been doing mine for over 3 years now and this year should be no different. My Thanksgiving tradition, as odd as it sounds, is to make a big, fat turkey sandwich and spend the entire day on the beach surfing. Getting up early... Continue Reading

Happy Birthday Mom!
Just a quick happy birthday wish to the one I used to call Mommy when I was a little kid. Couldn’t have asked for a better one. Love ya Mom!... Permalink

O H……I O!
Ohio State once again beat those boys in blue this weekend in a 14-3 victory. My neighbor Trish, my buddy Dan and I headed up to Bru’s Room in Boynton Beach to be amongst fellow crazy Ohioans. We sang songs, drank some beer and screamed our heads off at every first down, touchdown and third down conversion. All the while I was giving Dan and Trish the Ohio State education. “What the hell is a buckeye?”, well, it’s a nut like all of us! “Why are there pot leaves on their helmets?”. Those are buckeye leaves and they’re for game... Continue Reading

Chilly, Chilly
This morning I actually broke out the ole’ suade jacket as the local temperature plumeted to a chilly 57 degrees. No real comparison to friends and family back home but people down here are already bundling up. Makes for a cool, crisp morning and I love that feeling. Wet suit weather is finally here. Bad neck tan lines, sore shoulders and sprints to and from the line-up for a warm towel. Winters down here really couldn’t be better. Mid 50s-60s in the mornings and mid 70s all day. I’m looking forward to some surf this weekend as well, as a... Continue Reading

The World Of Damien
Not much happening really so therefore the slow news and updates over the weekend and yesterday. I’ve got a few nuggets but for the most part I’m refraining from talking about them. One would be I’m trying to look for a new place closer to work and far away from my condo. I had an appointment last night to look at an apartment four blocks from my office but the rep (Debbie Elbaum) never showed. I even waited for fourty freaking minutes and still an no show, so on to the next one. I love waiting for inconsiderate people, it’s... Continue Reading

Dan’s Pregnant
Well, I mean Dan and Mary are Pregnant… well, ok, just Mary. Looks like they’re well on their way to starting a little family of their own. Congratulations guys! Dan called me last night with the good news – seems they’ve been keeping it under wraps for quite some time now. He said it looks like it’ll be a June birth, which is good since June sucks for surf and it’ll give him something to do while waiting for then next swell. Just kidding.... Permalink
