After a long and pretty much boring weekend without surf and probably way too many drinks on Friday night the surf finally picked up on the island (Palm Beach). 2-3 foot slop but after such a lackluster weekend of nursing a hangover and watching movies I was due to get back in the water. I pretty much just left my boards on and in my car from last week so it was just a matter of checking the report and hitting the beach. Longboardable but I’m sure the 7’7″ would have been easier. I just wasn’t feeling it today. Thought I’d just cruise with the big boy. Honesty I know I took it a bit too far on Friday when I couldn’t remember what the hell happened to me after about 12. Tough to look at the bank statements online on Monday morning and try and remember where the hell I was, and hopefully I didn’t make too much of an ass of myself. Here’s hoping but as far as I know I’m banned from every bar (till next weekend). I’ve really gotta stop doing that on Fridays. When there’s no surf and no one to really hang out with... Looks like we’re going to have some more mid-week surf this week. I just got out of the water in Palm Beach and it was sloppy but very rideable. 3-4 on some sets and punchy as always. I rode the 7’7″ McTavish and caught a few pretty good ones though I got slammed twice and had to do a flying canon-ball over the lip once. Still a great time. It took some time getting across the bridge because of the boatshow that’s going on down on Flagler this weekend. The drawbridge must have been up for 20 minutes. Seems like... Continue Reading

Easter weekend and it pretty much rained the entire time. No sun, no surf and just an overcast two days at home watching movies. Friday night was fun but after that it was depressing. Ah, it felt so good to take a half day off and surf with my bro Ramil. I picked him up around 1 and we hit Spanish River, a surf spot in Boca. The inside was kind of dumpy so we opted to surf to the far outside with the longboards and check it out. Even though the drift was kind of annoying, the bombs kept coming in. 3-6 foot on some of the sets and yeah, I was grinning from ear to ear on every ride. Finally Palm Beach had some surf and I was out like a shot as soon as 6pm hit yesterday. I grabbed the 7’7″ and hit the beach. The wind was cranking so it was a bit sloppy but still a lot of fun. The drift was out of the south so hopping in at Flagpole was perfect. I’ve never seen so many quarter sized jelly-fish in the ocean at one time. Every two or three feet there was one or two little buggers. Luckily they’re so young they’re tentacles haven’t yet extended so it was just a little weird but... Continue Reading

Probably the tamest St. Patty’s I’ve had in years. Guess it’s because it was on a Monday of all days. I had planned on taking half a day off to celebrate but soon found out about some upcoming surf on Wednesday and moved my half day off to then to enjoy some much needed surf. As for St. Patty’s day, Trish and I headed down to O’Shea’s for a few drinks. Only spent about two and half hours down there before calling the night. I’ve been threatening to get a desk for my place and on Tuesday I finally did it, though it didn’t arrive until yesterday morning. So over lunch yesterday I hauled the beast up to the 8th floor and put the chair together. Once I arrived home from work around 6:15 I had the task of putting the desk together. I didn’t finish until almost 10pm. The directions sucked (that’s my excuse). I had to put several things together not just twice but three times because of cryptic directions. Finally, geez I thought this week would never end. The first part of the week was extremely busy but after Tuesday it’s been dragging ass. Yeah, I know I’ve been slacking off of the news column lately. Sorry guys. Not much really going on around here lately aside from the time change and a busy daily schedule. Saturday night Dean held a party for Suanne’s birthday at his house. Great food and good friends – it was a great time. Happy Birthday Suanne!
