Right after work I decided to check the surf at Flagpole here in Palm Beach. Really drifty and blown out 4-5 footers and overall it looked like a complete mess. Such a mess, in fact, that I didn’t even take my board out of the car nor did I even change into swim trunks. I had checked the surf report earlier in the day on my iPhone and it said 5-6 foot and poor+ conditions. There were two guys in the water giving it a go but they really weren’t catching much. That and the fact that they were drifting faster than they could paddle just looked like more work than fun. So I decided to head home and (again) get some work done and hit the gym. Fun evening right?...

Yesterday yielded some decent surf up here in West Palm Beach. Waist to chest high on most sets with the occasional standout sets of head high slammers. I took the longboard out in the morning and the evening for a two hour session both times. Nice sets though the morning was really glassy and fun. The afternoon was a bit more choppy but still quite fun. Ramil and Dan had a chance to get out in Delray but I couldn’t make the trip down this weekend. In between the surf sessions I had people over to my house to watch...

One of my favorite shows, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia is finally back for another season. We caught two new ones back to back last night and they didn’t disappoint. The gang hatched up a few more schemes only to walk away with nothing, not even their dignity (if they have any) intact. I’m normally not one for promoting TV shows but this one’s a keeper. Check it out on Thursdays at 10 on the FX channel....

Recently my mom was in a car accident. Now before I get inundated with sorrowful emails I just know she’s ok and at home safe. She’s got a broken left collarbone and she’s still pretty bruised up but she’s OK. I just wish I could have been home so I can go give her a hug and see with my own eyes that she’s OK. Feel better Mom, I love you....

Congratulations to Bryan Surface who’s girlfriend had a beautiful baby girl last night around 7:25 pm. Rylee Elizabeth was 7lbs. 11oz. and 21 inches long. I’m still waiting for pictures of the new addition but I’m sure they’re busier getting things situated and getting ready for the long (hopefully joyful) road ahead. Huge congratulations guys. I may just have to make a trip back home to Cincinnati to visit her....

Friday's day off was phenomenal. I met the boys down in Delray around 8am and we hit it from there. 5-6 ft on most sets on the outside and it was longboard heaven. Ramil and I surfed for about five and a half hours, most of which was rainy but extremely fun. Two 20 minute breaks for parking meters and granola/gatoraid refuels and we were golden. Easily some of the best surf I've had in a very long time and well worth the day off work....

Tropical storm Hanna is doing exactly what we wanted it to do, just skirt the coast and push swell our way. Friday’s Surfline forecast is 3-6 ft + so it looks like it’s going to be a good Friday of surf. Looks like the swell’s set to drop off on Sunday and late Saturday but Friday’s still looking strong. Pack those boards up, fill the cooler and stock up on sunblock. Let’s hit the beach!...

South Florida surfers are all keeping a very close eye on this one. So far the track looks pretty good and it’s just going to graze the coast. Surf should arrive just before and days after she gives us the little love nudge. Surfline’s calling for 5-8 ft. surf on Thursday night though it may be unrideable and blown out depending on Hanna’s location at the time. Friday looks to be the day so far so I’ve already put in a request for the day off. Now I’m just hoping she stays on track and I get the OK from...

After and entire weekend of choppy blown out surf conditions we finally got a day of solid surf. I managed to head down to Delray, my favorite surf break, and surf for about 3 hours with my bros Ramil and Pat. Easily 5 foot or more on some sets on the outside. First wave I paddled for pretty much handed me my ass and pitched me over the lip before rolling me like a ragdoll and testing my breath holding abilities. It was all good fun anyway, a pretty good wake up call to pay attention and a definite sign...
