iPhone Shots

If you’ll notice the bottom right side of the home page you’ll see a block of images. I’m actually pretty stoked that this is working as I’ve set up a SmugMug Gallery just for iPhone shots, and this gallery is pretty much just for that section of the blog. Any time I snap an image on my iPhone and upload it to that gallery via iPhone (yeah it’s that cool) the right side of the site will automatically update. Cool eh? I plan on giving it a go for the next week or so, so keep an eye out for some random shots.
The few that are up were taken with CameraBag (link takes you to the iTunes Store via iTunes), a really cool iPhone app that automatically adds filters like a photo taken in 1974 or 1962 or even a photo taken like an Ansel Adams photo. I doubt I’ll use it all the time, probably until I get tired of it but we’ll see what comes of it.
That Was A Little Better

I decided to give it one more try this evening and see if the surf had gotten any better. Thank goodness it had or I’d be even more upset with Palm Beach surf conditions. 3′-5′ chop but it was much more organized than last night. The only ride you really got was a drop and maybe a turn but it was good to get in the water and actually catch a few. Not much wind and the drift wasn’t nearly as bad.
I ran into a kid I met out at Oshea’s the other night named Oleg. He and his friend Bobby (I think) were out so I at least had someone to surf with. Sometimes it makes al the difference in the world to sit amongst non-strangers, or at the very least people who probably won’t drop in on you or steal your wave.
Crappy West Palm Beach Power Chop

There are days I love surfing and then there are evenings like last night. Four foot dumpy chop in Palm Beach, not lining up for anything but a pounding. I had three rides in 45 minutes. What a waste of time. I guess I got some exercise padding for waves that either pitched me over the lip or never broke at all. I hate surfing in Palm Beach sometimes and yearn for my favorite Delray. I miss that break.
Palm Beach is punchy and not mellow like Delray. I’m not an extreme surfer and I generally won’t ride a shortboard. I’d rather cruise and get a few good turns in on my log (longboard). The overall limitation of working till 6 every day (and the day’s are getting shorter) and the fact that I can only surf at Palm Beach after work is beginning to dampen my surfing spirits. Looks like I’ll be looking forward to surfing weekends only pretty soon. At least I’ll be able to get to Delray.
Mom’s October Visit 2008

Mom arrived on Friday around noon from the west coast of Florida and Trish and I took her out to lunch at Bradley’s down on Flagler. Friday night after I got off of work we all went out to Rocco’s for dinner and drinks. I showed her around my “hood” and my usual spot including O’Shea’s etc. A pretty good time though Mom didn’t like most of the drinks and she’s not much on crowds.
Saturday was relaxing by the pool and down on the beach then off to Old Key Lime House in Lantana for Mom’s favorite Key Lime Pie. Saturday night we were all pretty beat so we just hung out at Trish’s house and watched a movie.
Sunday was up fairly early and off to PGA Mall for some minor shopping before she took off for home. It was great to see her and I love and miss her. She’s still a bit sore from the accident but she’s getting around just fine.
The New MacBooks Are Here!

And even though they’re extremely cool and extremely fast I’m holding off until they release the 17″ version. I’ve been on a 17″ laptop now for six years and I don’t think downgrading my already limited screen real estate to a 15″ is an option. New graphics cards, larger hard drives, better memory and a shiny new LCD screen. Here I sit wiping the drool from my MacHead mouth but I’ll wait. Mmmm MacBook Pro….
