Bank Card Close Call

Wow Denise was out of it on Sunday. Zak, his uncle, Amanda and I went down to Rocco’s for some lunch and we had Denise as our waitress while we sat outside. We had all been chilling by the pool helping Zak and Amanda beat each other at a heated game of Scrabble when it became apparent we needed some Rocco’s and a shot of tequilla. So off we went.
Lunch was good as usual, actually it was the first Sunday Rocco’s was actually open ever and the place was hopping. Denise came in after being out the night before and she was not doing so well. Not visibly but I got someone else’s check after my first check was way off. Then when I finally did get the right one back I never recieved my card. After all of the check confusion I didn’t even realize it until yesterday morning when I went to Publix to pick up some herbal tea and a blueberry smoothie. Mother F@ck, are you kidding me?!
So the frantic search began (again). That was the last place I used it so I left a message early, called a bit later to double check and even contacted Denise on Facebook to see what was up?
Luckily they still had it – picked it up over lunch and all that was previously right in the world was once again set straight. Ge’ez I hate that.
I’m Heading to Cancun!

Finally a real vacation. I’m heading to Cancun with my bro in mid March and it’s really giving me something to look forward to. Booked the tickets last night and now I’ve just got to expedite the whole passport renewal thing (forgot you need a passport now). So that’s on the agenda for the next four weeks.
The hotel we’re staying at is one that I helped build the website for so I KNOW the hotel pretty well since I stare at the images every day. The pimp as pimp ME Cancun Hotel so that’s pretty sweet. I’m only going for five days but it’ll be great to get away, relax in the sun, get some golf in and drink my face off while practicing what little Spanish I know. It’s also real motivation to hit the gym hard over the next few weeks.
Leopard + DAVE Networking = Unneccissary

Alright, so I was a bit leery about running the new operating system on my machine this morning at work as time is short and I didn’t have time to make sure a network program we Mac users had to use in the office in order to connect to our internal server. As soon as I got to the office this morning it was a no go. So off to Thursby software to see what an upgrade was. Unfortunately I didn’t have the email used in the original purchase so I was forced to buy a whole new liscense. Shit, $119 just to get it to work.
After three hours of working with the new stuff I began to notice some real issues with other software on my machine. For one thing my iPhone wouldn’t connect to iTunes and that’s an issue I can’t live with. So, I thought I’d run a full uninstall of DAVE and low and behold, OS 10.5.6 connected to the server just fine WITHOUT Dave networking software.
Next came the phone call to Thursby to get my refund, and yes there were cool with it so thanks guys for that one. I did so much research over the weekend to find out but honestly there was nothing out there cross-referencing DAVE with Leopard that even came close to what I needed.
So here it is (Sorry DAVE), if you upgrade to Leopard you no longer need DAVE to connect to a secure internal Windows server. Save your money. For the price of DAVE you can upgrade your whole damn computer to Mac OS 10.5.6.
Sporting Leopard. Finally

As you all know I’m kind of a design nerd/apple freak so this weekend I made the leap to Leopard (Mac OS 10.5.6) and so far I’m digging it. The upgrade was painless (so far) and the built in Time Machine is freakin awesome. It backs up my entire system to an external drive and allows me to recover anything with the click of a button. Now it’s just a matter of cleaning my laptop off since the OS sucked up another 9gigs above my old operating system.
So for most of the weekend I was on and off doing the update and messing with the new system. My only concern now is connecting to the office servers. We use DAVE networking utility for Macs and I’ve read a couple different things as far as reconnecting after the upgrade. One is that Leopard takes care of the network issues and two that DAVE needs an upgrade to work properly. So this morning’s a finger crosser.
I’d rather not upgrade as it’s like $70 but we’ll see. If I have to, I have to.

Wow, what a great movie. I had a chance to see this flick on Friday in Boca at Muvico and honestly I didn’t have high expectations about the film. The premise is (if you don’t know) that an ex-spy’s daughter goes to Paris and gets kidnapped and Liam Neeson goes on a rampage to find her.
The first 15 minutes or so are really slow and you kind of want to smack the girl (Liam Neeson’s daughter) yourself. Such an annoying little brat and when she is finally “taken” your kind of relieved. At least then you know the actual movie is starting.
The rest of the movie is non stop, jam packed action. Chases, clever spy stuff ruthless violence. Awesome. This is a must see for fans of the Bourne series and people who like movies like Ronin.
