West Palm Beach Boatshow 2009

Saturday I had the joy of hanging out with Phil and the Family Retay + Davis at the West Palm Beach Boatshow. It was like $14 a ticket but the day was so nice it was a real blast. These guys crack me up and we were laughing all day, it was awesome. We all started with tequila sunrises at my house then walked down to check out all of the boats none of us could ever afford. Phil and Amy had their little one, Phin with us. Such a chill kid, never fussed once. I actually took care of the little guy for a while with no problem (though every girl that walked by when I was holding him though he was mine, haha). You guys are truly lucky.
After visiting the boats we hit the bar/barge which was loaded with people. Such a good time. Obviously we hit Rocco’s on the way back to my house, grabbed some steaks and food from Publix and did the whole grill out thing with hot-tub afterwords. Thanks for such an awesome day guys! All of my shots are uploaded to my SmugMug page (as usual). Check them out here..
Surf is Building

After some debate and checking the surf camera up in Jupiter I decided to head that way and see what I could catch. It looked better on the cameras than it actually was but it was still pretty good. 4-5 sets rolling through in intervals. Once again I surfed alone at Kite Beach but once again, I had a chance to sit there between sets with my eyes closed and try and center myself. Find that quiet place in the water, that quiet place we all need.
I surfed until the sun disappeared behind the condos on the beach. The water’s still pretty chill and after the sun gets low enough so is the air so I wore my 5mil wetsuit top (the you bought me for my birthday, Mom). I had the longboard out again and was able to catch a few good lefts that walled up nicely. Only one real wipeout but for some reason my left hip is hurting. Probably because of the way I ate it, one foot came off the board before the other and into an impromptu split the side head smacker on the face of the wave.
I’m going to try and and hit it again today after work if it’s not a complete washing machine. Keep an eye on cams guys, today’s the day to get in the water if it’s not too blown out.
Oh Yeah, This Should Be Fun

This looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun this weekend. Or at least at the end of the week. The image above is a snapshot of Surfline’s forecast for the next few days and if you notice it says….6-9 foot mid-day on Friday. Saturday will probably be the day to get in the water just in case it’s major wind choppage.
Grab those boards, wax ‘em up and get your ass to the beach. We’ve got SURF! You’ll find me at Kite Beach more than likely, or maybe even Delray. I’m boycotting Palm Beach (bunch of snobby pricks and no showers on the beach)

Obama’s Public Conference Last Night

I’m no political correspondent and normally I treat politics with a polite disdain towards the greedy and conniving bastards of government but last night I tuned into the latest address by President Obama and it wasn’t as boring as I thought it was going to be.
Granted we’ve been listening to freakin’ moron for the last 8 years so listening to someone actually put complete sentences together was refreshing. Most of the conference was on our current financial crisis which also made me feel a bit better. Everyone, at least everyone I know is feeling the pinch. Office work has become slow and I think I can safely speak for everyone I know in an office environment right now, we’re all worried about our jobs in one way or another. It’s a real concern.
Ok, back to the conference. In my opinion President Obama spoke very precisely about how grave the condition is and what we as a nation have to do to make it back out of this very enormous hole the past administrations have put us in. In the end I felt once again like a leader was in front of us helping to calm our anxieties, not a retard.
