Ok so I know it’s been over a week and I DID upload them to my Facebook Account but now I’ve finally gotten around to adding them up to my SmugMug page for your pleasure. Most of the shots are of the hotel and surrounding area and there are very few of D, Gary and I if any. The shot above was actually sent to us by a new friend down in Cancun damn is my tan kickin’. Just kidding.

Recovering from the Weekend

You usually know it was a good weekend when I don’t write till Tuesday night or Wednesday. I’m finally starting to feel like a normal person again and overall it was from exhaustion. I went out with friends on Saturday night and then hung out by the pool all day on Sunday. Exhausting, yeah I know. The pool day was was something short of drinking all day on a boat but without the boat. Grilling out with my neighbors and relaxing by the pool the day caught up with all of us around 7pm when I headed home to pass out. Waking up at 11 and moving from the couch to the bed I just didn’t get the kind of sleep you really need for a Monday morning. Not hungover, just not rested and kind of fuzzy.

The weekend was a blast though and for the most part I really enjoyed myself. I’ve become increasingly thankful that I’ve got some cool people living in the building to hang out with. It’s good to be surrounded by good people sometimes.

Jupiter Was Fun

Last night’s after work surf trip up to Jupiter turned out pretty good and overall much better than surfing freakin’ Palm Beach. For some reason I was just in the mood to surf el solo and kind of collect myself.

When I arrived the outside was cranking through with nice 3-4 foot walls, kind of closing out but still looked like a lot of fun. I packed the 7’7″ and the log for good measure. Made the call to unstrap the Robert August 8’2″ and hit it.

Nice long paddle out and it was solid ground swell so you weren’t fighting wind chop constantly. Just waited for my window and made it to the lineup. Once there it was a good 3-5 minute wait in between sets but they were worth the wait. Steady little walls allowing a drop and a turn or two before collapsing itself. Just what I needed, a good day in the water. The clouds parted and the sun came out as it set in the west. A nice end to a weary day.

Ramil mentioned today was the THE day to get in the water so depending on the happy hour plans (that may or may not come to fruition) I may be back at it up in Jupiter. My quiet watery place of contemplation and surfing solitude.

Would have been nice to have someone else out there but I think it was just what I needed. (photo above not from by nor is it from Jupiter. Just a nice mellow surf shot)

West Palm Beach Wind Chop

Posted on March 19, 2009

photo-176That’s right folks, I finally made it back in the water after how many months. It was only wind chop and to be honest it wasn’t that easy to catch a good ride. Not to mention the hundreds of sharks in the water but it had to be done. I haven’t had surf in so long it was (kind of) worth the risk.

Barely rideable and only about 2-4 foot. Today should be a bit bigger but with bigger in West Palm that means dumpy so we’ll see what the surf looks like after work today.

The only reason I even know there were hundreds of sharks out yesterday is my neighbor, a kite boarder, stopped near my pack and warned us he’d been seeing hundreds of 5-6 foot sharks roaming the outer shoals. I personally didn’t see any and they do tend to stay away from the rougher areas of surf. If its not any better than yesterday I’m probably going to stay out of the water or head up to Jupiter and see if it’s any cleaner/less sharky up there.
