BudgetLighting.com, You Suck

I hate doing these negative posts but this one’s got me very pissed off. I recently blew out my desk lamp, which is a fairly expensive Ott-Lite VisionSaver desklamp designed to not put any undue stress on your eyes while working at your desk.
So I ordered one from BudgetLighting.com as it was the cheapest place I could find online. The online order system said it was in stock and I purchased a couple. This was the 13th….
Today I get an email only after asking where the hell my order is saying it’s on back-order till July 9th. I hate working in the dark and my house lighting just isn’t cutting it, especially on days like today when it’s kind of gloomy outside.
They could have let me know a week ago when I ordered the damn things. Now it’s just a major inconvenience to try and find another bulb.
X-Men Origins

I made my way down to City Place over the weekend and finally saw X-Men origins. Excellent film and probably my favorite of the entire X-Men movie collection. It’s follows Wolverine and his brother Sabertooth through their very long and dangerous lives from early childhood, through every American war and up to the beginning of the Xavier School for Gifted Youths. You get the point.
One thing I was fairly stoked about was the fact that they did show Wolverine’s original claws which were nothing more than bones jutting out from his hands, as opposed to the adimantium knives we’re all used to seeing. Lev Schriber was fantastic and the overall epic story is worth the price for theater admission, if not more.
Guest appearances by some of my favorite originals such as Deadpool and Gambit are a major bonus, though neither character had a majorly significant role.
What’s Up?

Not much, just getting things sorted out so I can find some way to pay my bills after the grand economy takes a huge dump. More and more people are getting laid off and companies are closing their doors left and right. So many that there’s actually a Meetup/Convention down in Miami Saturday, June 6th regarding design professionals and the recent economic downturn.
Even though it’s all the way down in Miami it may be a good opportunity to network with others in our position and find out if there is indeed a light at the end of this tunnel.
In the meantime I’m keeping in semi-positive spirits. Right now the weather’s not helping but hey, things could be worse.
Star Trek the Movie

I had a chance the other night to head down to City Place and catch the newest installment of Star Trek. A movie that, like the latest few Batman movies has high hopes of reinvigorating a franchise. In that, I actually think it may have succeeded.
Now I’ve never been much of a Star Trek fan, and really never watched any of the TV shows but I’ve sat through my fair share of Star Trek movies. This one is worth the movie ticket price. Loads of action, decent story line and talented cast add a stylish spin to an aging movie franchise. It actually makes Star Trek cool.
One aspect I really enjoyed was how it covers the back story of almost everyone from the original series, why they were there and how they got there.
Overall I’ve got to say this is a pretty good movie. Go see it for yourself.
Colourlovers Highlights the Colors of the Muppets

Super cool article written by Evad over at ColourLovers.com about the colors and characters of one of my favorite childhood TV shows. It even highlights one of my favorite characters (sort of) that no one seems to remember. The little guy that would pop up out of nowhere and invariably blow something up. Every time I just remember laughing my ass off as a kid.
Anyone have any idea of what this guy’s name is? He was such a random and seldom seen character, I don’t even think he ever even had a line. He just laughed, pushed the TNT box down and something random just blew up.
Ah, the good ole days.
