Transportation Plans
Well, as some of you are aware I’m about to be “without car” pretty soon. I made a call to Nissan about my Pathfinder lease and I found out my lease isn’t up until November (instead of August) so that’s a good thing. The problem is in the current economy I really can’t afford to get myself into another lease and I’m not about to buy a car/suv outright right now. So, what’s the plan? I think (Mom, please don’t cringe too much) I may just try and find a motorcycle and get my license. I rarely drive anywhere and they don’t cost nearly as much as a car or a used Jeep. I won’t really be able to ride in the rain, or I’m sure I probably won’t do too much rain travel, and as long as I stay pretty much local it won’t be an issue. I won’t be able to haul my surfboard to the beach so that’s a problem but the thrill of having a bike may be just enough to get moving in that direction. I’m not looking for a powerhouse of a bike or something out of my skill range. Probably a small 650... Continue Reading

Transformers – Revenge of the Fallen
I had a chance last night to hit the movies and catch the new Transformers Movie and to be honest with you it was a bit of a let down. Could have been my mood too, I guess. One screaming baby and a couple of “won’t shut up” teenagers behind me. But it was entertaining. The action was amazing and of course, so where the special effects but the storyline and a couple new characters made me feel like I was watching a cartoon, not a movie…and could Micheal Bay bay blow up more stuff [sarcasm]. The primary cast was... Continue Reading

Change…
In a Blind Melon mood today. This song always got me through tough times and I’m really feeling it today… I don’t feel the suns comin out today Its staying in, its gonna find another way. As I sit here in this misery, I don’t Think Ill ever see the sun from here. And oh as I fade away, They’ll all look at me and say, and they’ll say, Hey look at him! Ill never live that way. But that’s okay They’re just afraid to change. When you feel your life aint worth living You’ve got to stand up and... Continue Reading

Up (very) Early
Not sure why, probably stress, but I haven’t been getting the best night’s sleep lately. This morning I woke up around 5:30am so I guess I’m up to get some things done. For some reason my neck’s been really bothering me, maybe I need some new pillows…or I need to stop spending my Sunday afternoons on the couch. Not sure which. Regardless, now with no 9-5 job I can get up early or stay up late with the option to take a nap midway through the day so I guess in that respect I’m lucky. One thing that does have... So How Bad Is It? Yeah, It’s Pretty Bad
I’m talking of course about the current economic situation. Just to give you an example of just how bad it is, my entire family is laid off. How’s that grab you? My Mom was laid off a few months ago, stepfather as well. My twin sister and step brother are also both back in the job hunting market and of course, yours truly has been laid off since mid May. That’s pretty damn bad. Thanks AIG! About the only bright spot lately is my gracious landlord agreed to lower my rent a couple hundred dollars during this time of turmoil.... Continue Reading

What’s That?
I’ll bet first off you’re wondering what the hell the photo above actually is. I just thought this one came out kind of interesting. I was in the process of trying to take some new portrait shots for my site, twitter feed, etc. when I thought a nice dark background would work. The only place in my house that can be used as a dark background really was my bedroom curtain. So I set up the tripod and put the Canon on a 10second delay. Set the light settings, aperture, etc and snapped the shot. The only problem is F-stop... Continue Reading

Still No Surf, Hello Summer
Even though the weather has been turbulent as of late, there’s still no real surf which is a good thing and a bad thing. At this point I need distractions to get me out of the house. I’ve been making it a point to run at least one errand every day whether it be to Publix for groceries or something else. Surf would be a welcome distraction but I guess something’s telling me to stay home and get some work done. Currently Flagpole (local surf spot) here in West Palm is only showing 1-2ft on Surfline. Something tells me it’s... Continue Reading

Chugging Right Along
After yet another week on my own I’m still trying to make it happen. Keeping a close eye on finances and trying to limit the fun stuff to low budget outings and hanging by the pool or grilling with neighbors. Which is what the weekends are all about. Other than that not much really to report. My primary focus is just to get as much done each day so I can survive in these tough times. Last week was kind of a bust but I’m hoping to make up for it this week, waking up early and just getting things... Continue Reading
