The New Brain Bucket

One step closer gear wise to making this motorcycle thing happen. I bought this off of my neighbor Jamie for $200 which is a real steal since it runs around $600 with tax at any motorcycle shop. Fits great though I’m not used to how freaking huge motorcycle helmets make your head look. At least it’s a quality helmet for the ole’ noggin.
Getting My Motorcycle License

Yup, I pulled the trigger on signing up for local riding classes. Yesterday Jamie (neighbor) and went to a motorcycle shop and I picked up some protective riding gloves or the occasion. Now I just need to get some ankle covering shoes and I’m pretty much all set. I think I’m going to buy Jamie’s extra brain bucket off of him for cheap as well. It’s a $600+ helmet for $200 so at least it’s a good one. It’s a large but it seems to fit my head fairly well, in fact I tried on both a large and a medium in the store yesterday and there wasn’t much difference. Jamie’s seems to fit more like a medium so I’m good.
Classes start at 7am on Tuesday morning and run till around five for two days. They supply the motorcycles (and helmets if need be) and at the end of the class you take your test and viola, you’ve got your license.
As you’re probably aware my Pathfinder lease is up at the beginning of November so I’ve got time to line up my own ride. Not set on any particular model but I’m leaning more towards the GSXR 600, probably in the 2007 year range as they’re all around 6k.
There are a couple new one like the Kawasaki ER-6n Sport in the same range but I’m not entirely sold on it just yet. I want something in the 600 range, not too powerful and not too big. Hey, I’m a little guy after all.
Overall it’s going to be interesting. I’ve always wanted one (sorry Mom) and since I rarely drive it seems like a good solution for some cheaper transportation. I guess we’ll see when the time comes what I can afford and if I can even finance one. Otherwise I’ll be looking in the $2,500 range for an older bike.
Wish me luck!
Long Time No Write

Yes, I’m still alive. I know it’s been awhile but I’m still here. A lot’s been going on and I honestly haven’t had time recently to sit down and write.
Last weekend a group of us got together to paint big Vinny’s new place down the hall from his house. George, Matthew, Vinny and I got quite a bit done in one day including the master bedroom, living room, dining room and about half of the third bedroom (office) all while drinking beer and doing tequila shots. Not bad, haha.
The rest of the weekend was spent hanging by the pool with the neighbors which is always relaxing and a good time.
Another Lazy Weekend

The pool was as packed as I’ve ever seen it yesterday. It felt like 610 Clematis Spring Break ‘09 here, it was great. Most took it fairly easy this weekend, most meaning Vince, Annette and I. Not too hectic and overall very relaxing.
A couple birthdays were celebrated as well, both Zak and Melissa had their birthdays over the weekend so we did it up on Friday night instead of the usual all weekender. Happy birthday guys! Great time overall, sorry I couldn’t make it out on Saturday night Zak, I was exhausted from the beach earlier in the day.
Still no surf to speak of but I promised to take ole’ Zak out and teach him how to paddle and sit on a board sometime soon. The more surfers, the better. Now if we only had some swell that’d be awesome.
No Surf Till….

We “almost” had surf over the weekend. Not here, mind you…up in Juno, but even that didn’t pan out the way we’d all hoped. Yup, it’s the typical summer “Lake Atlantic” summer doldrums. It’s getting so hot outside doing anything aside from lounging in the pool requires you to sweat your ass off.
Yesterday Vince and I hit the driving range for about an hour (tops) and wow was it hot. Of course my golf swing has once again gotten rusty and my dumb ass grabbed the wrong clubs out of my closet. I unfortunately grabbed my old crappy ones but eh, I don’t think it would have mattered anyway.
Image above is from the Jupiter inlet cam this morning. Hey, looks like someone put a giant “Love” in the sand.
