The Not-So-Famous (but should be) “M” Redneck Rating System

Not sure why this popped into my head today (probably the DMV) but I thought I’d share a not-so-famous rating system my buddy Sam and guys at WEBN ( a local radio station in Cincinnati ) came up with a very long time ago.
The “M” Redneck Rating system.
First off each M stands for one point so here goes:
Mustache
Mustang (car)
Mullet
Monte Carlo
Mother’s Monte Carlo (2 m’s)
Marathon (gas station) sunglasses
Metallica t-shirt
Muscle Car
Motley Crue t-shirt
Marlboro Red cigarette hanging of his mouth
Marlboro clothing (anything will do)
So by this scale you could potentially run across an M-8 or better. I know there were so many more I forgot to add but it’s a great summer time game to play at ballparks, monster truck rallies and Lynyrd Skynyrd concerts.
So call ‘em out as you see ‘em!
Happy Birthday, Trish

After months of no contact I finally got a reply from her. Just really happy she’s doing OK and today’s her birthday. I hope it’s a great one!
Heading Back to Ohio

Looks like I’m heading home for the first time in over two years. I’ve decided to drive back to save a bit of money. At least that way I’ll have my car to cruise around in instead of some crappy little rental car.
For the most part I’ll be spending time with my family and making sure things are going well there. I do plan on coming into Cincinnati for Saturday night to catch up with old friends. Hopefully I’ll have enough time to see everyone I can while I’m home.
It’s going to be a working vacation as I really can’t afford to take off the necessary time but it’ll be great to see the fam.
So the plan is take off on Thursday morning sometime and head north. Hopefully I can make it one trip without stopping to nap too long. It’s a 17 hour drive so this should be interesting. I plan on being back sometime early next week.
We Had Surf!

Saturday was a rough morning but we made it happen. Ramil, Spencer and I packed it up and headed north for Ft. Peirce. It’s only about an hour or so north of my house here in West Palm but it was well worth it.
Most sets were right around 4-5 ft but almost all of them were closeout sets so all you got was a good drop, maybe one turn before it completely imploded on you. It was fun as hell though just to get in the water and take a beating like that.
The crowd was typical Ft. Peirce. I thought it was going to be more of a zoo than it was which was good. Still quite crowded but you could find a spot. We did have a couple injuries during the day. Ramil’s foot was messed up and he had to cut his day short. I took a chunk out of my calf with one of my fins and had a gnarly wipeout and was smacked in the back of the other calf so hard I had a non-stop charley horse. Ouch.
Overall it was a great trip. A few hours of surf does a body good.
This Looks Promising – Hurricane Bill

I know most people are usually up in arms when it comes to hurricanes around here but surfers are not. This looks like it’ll be the perfect storm for us South Florida surfers. It’s been a doldrum of surf over the past few months. Yeah, I said “months”, which as of a few years ago, unheard of. It seems like just 3-4 years ago I’d still be able to surf at least once a week during the summer but this summer has been really vacant of that much needed surf outlet.
Hopefully it comes a bit closer than the projected path, but not too much closer. At that range it’ll send some nice solid swell our direction without any damage.
So bring it on Bill. Give me a good excuse to put a fresh layer of wax on the board and get down to the beach. Keep your eye on the stormtracks and weather reports, this looks promising.
