I Think Fall’s Here

Posted on September 30, 2009

This morning I woke to 73 degrees, a welcome change from the normal 80′s in the morning. I love fall around here, hell, except for daylight savings time I love winter around here as well. So crisp in the mornings, minimal rainfall and incoming surf. Even though it rarely gets into the 50′s I still love it.

Today’s the last day of one of the toughest months I’ve had in recent memory. It’s been an odd year to say the least. Crossing my fingers this coming month will bring better fortune to all.

No More Pathfinder

The Pathfinder

So in an attempt to cut expenses and save some money I decided to turn the Pathfinder back in on it’s lease a month early. I was almost 10,000 miles below the lease but the payments and insurance were becoming a burden I could no longer really afford. So last week I dropped off the ride back to the dealership.

It was a sad day but hopefully things will turn around fairly soon. Everyone is hurting right now and I’m no exception. So many people have lost their jobs and are now struggling to just get by it’s really beginning to bring me down. No one seems to be hiring locally and freelance is slowly becoming harder and harder to come by.

I’m now down to a motorcycle which serves as basic transportation but with limitations like riding in the rain, etc. I’m sure it’ll do the trick an overall I’m really enjoying it. It’s just limiting. Fuel costs are but a fraction of the Pathfinder and insurance is less than half so those are both very good things. I’m sure I’m not the only one with idea.

So I’ll say so long to probably the best car I’ve ever had. It was a great three years. It’s hard to be positive about a step backwards in life but we’re all making cuts to get by these days.

It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia…Denied

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia

So Primecast, our monopolized building dish service provider dropped the ball last night in a big way. I don’t watch too many shows but this is one I can’t miss.

Last night about halfway through the new episode service was simply gone. The screen just sat there saying acquiring satellite signal step 0 of 5…. and nothing. So after 10 minutes of screwing with it, powering off, etc I gave them a call. Wow, Primecast sucks. I can’t believe they’re still in business. It’s such a rip-off and my building has a contract with them so we’re kind of screwed for the time being.

As a matter of fact, the service is STILL DOWN this morning at 8:47… since last night! Are you kidding me?! This has got to be the most unreliable group of fuck ups in the cable/satellite distribution network. What a bunch of morons.

The Backpack Arrives

Axio Swift 2.0 Backpack

The brand new Axio Swift 2.0 backpack arrived yesterday and it’s really nice. Should be perfect for hauling stuff around on the motorcycle. It fits my 17″ laptop perfectly as well as my Canon Digital Rebel and extra 300mm lens. The stress of the last couple days kind of puts a damper on the mood though but I’m trying to focus on the positive things right now.

It’s been a rough month. Not the first and probably not the last but I’m hoping for better days. At least this little item allows me to travel where I need to with what I need to travel with.

Normal backpacks flop around and can throw your balance off when on a motorcycle which can be very dangerous. This is actually very comfortable to wear and fits securely. I still wish it was waterproof but I guess you can’t have everything. All in the name of saving money which, these days is the name of the game.

Good Morning, Monday

Good Morning

Well the weekend is over once again and now it’s time to get back to it. Overall it was a decent weekend though Saturday was pretty much non-stop rain. Friday night was spent just hanging out with Vinny down at his place.

Zak and I had to walk down to Roxy’s to watch the Ohio State game since it wasn’t on anywhere in the building. It was a blowout but then again it should have been.

Yesterday was by far the best day of the weekend. The sun was out and Jamie and I went for a morning ride up north to Jupiter and beyond. Stopped at Starbucks for a Frappuccino then back down to the Square Grouper for some lunch. From there it was off to the pool to even out the farmer’s tans we got from riding the motorcycles.

Now it’s Monday and the weather forecast looks like hell. Rain, rain all week long. Looks like I won’t be doing much riding this week.

We did have surf this weekend but I wasn’t going to push my back on it. Not sure if it was a pinched nerve or what but I’d rather take it easy for a few more days before pushing it again.
