May’s Finally Over
Well, May is finally over and to be honest, that’s a good thing. It’s been a tough few months and now that the Rover is gone it’s time to start getting this shit back together again. I’m still trying to sort out what I’m going to do with this blog. Facebook, FourSquare and Twitter have kind of taken over the original purpose of the DamienKomala.com blog so it’s tough to be motivated to sit down and write what’s up on here. I’m considering turning it into a photo blog of just random stuff I see around town similar to a fellow local Tweeter, aGuyOnClematis. That actually seems a bit easier and probably more fun than keeping an ongoing written blog up to date. Work is still going well with Sesame Communications in Seattle and I’ve been scaling back freelance jobs pretty much to the point of not taking on anymore projects. When you’re building 6-10 websites every two weeks you get a bit burnt out, believe me. Still no girl in my life aside from those a thousand miles away in Puerto Rico but there’s not much I can do about that. The weekend did yield an old friend of... Continue Reading

EveryonesJoe.com – An Art Exhibition for Cambodian Children’s Painting Project
Months ago I lost a very close and dear friend, Joe Politzer. He was very involved in the Cambodian Children’s Painting Project, a group dedicated to the impoverished children of Cambodia. Recently some friends of Joe contacted me and asked if I could pitch in and help out with the site “EveryonesJoe.com” and of course I said hell yeah. The name itself almost brings tears to my eyes as Joe really was everyone’s Joe. I don’t think I ever met an easier person to love (like a brother of course) than Joe. Anyway they have an event to auction off... Continue Reading

Ah May, You Hurt So Good
I know, we’re halfway through May and I have yet to write a real post. Truth be told there’s been a lot going on but I’ve been too lazy to share. Between Sunfest, Cinco de Mayo and trips out of town it just seems I’m writing about the same stuff as last year. Sunfest was a blast. I only did two days this year out of five. Saturday and Sunday and to be honest, the Sunday was a long one. The two days afterwards dealing with the hangover was a key factor in my lack of writing. Lots of live... Continue Reading

What a Ride
Friday I took off around 12:30 for the motorcycle ride down to Key West. Of course I was a bit nervous about such a ride but to be hones I just needed to get out of here for a while and I haven’t seen my old surf buddy Dan in quite some time. The first leg was obviously the fastest; Florida Turnpike down to Miami then on to the 45 mile per hour section of the trip. 85 on a motorcycle for an hour or so can be a fun ride though and the only real pain in the ass... Off to Key West
After I finish up this home page comp and grab some lunch I’m off to Key West for the weekend to hang out with my buddy, Dan and his wife and kid. The ride should take me between 4 and 5 hours which is probably the longest I’ve ever been on a motorcycle but it should be a good ride. 240 miles from here to Key West and half of it will be in the keys. I just really need a good weekend out of West Palm Beach; somewhere more relaxing. As far as other things in my life, there’s... Continue Reading

Jamie’s Heading Back Home
My bike riding buddy is heading back to jolly ole’ England after months of job searching here in South Florida. We’re all going to miss the limey bastard. Hopefully he’ll come back and visit. Farewell old friend, may your future endeavors prove prosperous.... Permalink

Dreary Monday Morning
This is what Mondays always seem to feel like. Today it just happens to look the same. Overcast and gray though not quite raining. The weekend wasn’t too bad. I headed down to Delray on Saturday night for Deano’s 35th birthday party. Most of the SA gang was there for dinner at Le Cabanna on Atlantic. It was good to see everyone but I wasn’t able to stay too long after dinner as I was on the bike and riding on a Saturday night is a bit dangerous. Way too many drunks out so I headed home early. Happy birthday... Continue Reading

Gearheads, Rednecks and Sportbikes…Awesome
Last night I joined Jamie for a ride up to what used to be Moroso Speedway (forgot what it’s called now) for some drag racing. Nice night ride on the bikes up, a bit chilly but fun. His buddy Adam was racing his Kawasaki ZX1400 (same bike as Jamie, though race tuned) on the strip against a couple other bikes. We had a chance to watch him hit the strip twice, both times were right around 9.87 seconds. Quick! Loads of hotrods, slicks, funny cars, road rockets and even a couple supercharged Jeep Cherokees. Loud, smokey and awesome. The scenery... Continue Reading

Still Kickin
Sorry for the lack of writing lately. I’ve been busy with work and there really hasn’t been much to write about. New years was cool, nothing to brag about. The weather seems to be the most prevalent topic lately since it’s been so freakin’ cold here I can’t believe it. 30s in the mornings and it has rarely gotten over 45 degrees over the last few days. Feels like I’m still living in Ohio! At least the sun finally came back out over the last two days but I have yet to get back on the motorcycle and go anywhere.... Continue Reading
