Rockwell Design Studio – I Finally Incorporated

Posted on June 30, 2010

Rockwell Design Studio

I finally pulled the trigger and incorporated last week. It’s been so busy around here I haven’t had time to do anything with it (or update the blog for that matter). I did however get the full incorporation, corporate bank account and EIN which should save my ass come tax time. At least that’s what I’m hoping.

All new clients and some old ones are all now going through Rockwell.

After month, literally months of going over around 90 business names I kept coming back to Rockwell. It just rolls off the tongue and luckily http://www.rockwelldesignstudio.com was available. What luck! There’s nothing there at the moment. Yet another project for me to get rolling when I have time to think and my eyes aren’t burning out of my skull from staring at the computer screen.

If I have time today I’ll try and get up a “coming soon” page before I really dive into design and development.

One of Those Mornings

Posted on June 30, 2010

Sometimes it just doesn’t pay to get out of bed in the morning. I woke up at 6:30 this morning only to find my wireless network was kind of buggy. Renamed the network, reset the password and adjusted the damn wireless router in my closet… still no speed. Then I disconnected the the thing a few times, took the laptop into the closet and it’s quick as hell.

Once I got back to my desk, still slow as fuck. What the hell! It’s only 15 feet away! So now it’s sitting on a stool in my closet door just peeking around the corner and finally I get a quick network. The wireless network itself seems to be strong according to my Airport signal but every time I move the damn router it’s slow as hell.

I guess I’ll be working like this today. Screw it, it has to be done, haha. Goes to show you sometimes you just can’t reach it….

They Busy Month of June

Posted on June 15, 2010

I can’t even begin to tell you how busy I’ve been this month. I’ve already finished up five sites this month with a handful due by next Friday which is a great thing. Most have been with one particular client but there has been a handful of others seeded in here and there.

It’s a good thing the projects are coming in so well, it’s just tough to get it all done but I’m up to the challenge. So many personal projects have been put on hold but that’s how it goes. Now if I could only get clients to pay on-time I’d be stoked!

This morning was a 5:30 am wake up…for no reason really just that I rolled over, saw the time and just decided to get my ass out of bed. There’s work to be done and I’d rather get it done and get paid than sleep in and not really sleep at all. The great thing about working from home is if I get the urge later today, I’ll just take a nap on the couch, haha.

I’ve also been striving to get back into the gym, both weight lifting and my weekly Yoga class. Kind of balances me out a bit. Besides, I hate working out on legs and Yoga does a damn good job of that each week.

EveryonesJoe.com – An Art Exhibition for Cambodian Children’s Painting Project

Posted on June 14, 2010

Months ago I lost a very close and dear friend, Joe Politzer. He was very involved in the Cambodian Children’s Painting Project, a group dedicated to the impoverished children of Cambodia.

Recently some friends of Joe contacted me and asked if I could pitch in and help out with the site “EveryonesJoe.com” and of course I said hell yeah. The name itself almost brings tears to my eyes as Joe really was everyone’s Joe. I don’t think I ever met an easier person to love (like a brother of course) than Joe.

Anyway they have an event to auction off (or sell I’m not sure yet) artwork created by Cambodian Children’s Painting Project in Cleveland, Joe’s home town. Now it’s up to me to get it designed, developed and running.

Installation of WordPress is done and I have a few ideas as to theme design and logo design. It’s going to be a nightly working project of course but it’s for a great cause, and a cause that was very close to Joe.

If you’d like to learn more about the Cambodian Children’s Painting Project you can check out their Facebook Page.

Ah May, You Hurt So Good

Posted on May 12, 2010

I know, we’re halfway through May and I have yet to write a real post. Truth be told there’s been a lot going on but I’ve been too lazy to share. Between Sunfest, Cinco de Mayo and trips out of town it just seems I’m writing about the same stuff as last year.

Sunfest was a blast. I only did two days this year out of five. Saturday and Sunday and to be honest, the Sunday was a long one. The two days afterwards dealing with the hangover was a key factor in my lack of writing. Lots of live bands, booze and dining but it was a great time.

Cinco de Mayo I busted my ass to get as much work done as possible and only made my way down the street around 4pm. Rocco’s was once again the perfect spot to celebrate.

The rest was all a good time as well. Between taking time off and working my ass to make up for it there’s been little time or energy to record it all. I’ve been trying to get better at it but it seems like I’ve been pretty non-stop with my own clients and my large client in Washington so when the day is done I’m really in no mood to write. Hell, I’ve even slacked off of the FaceBook thing but honestly I think that was getting a bit out of hand.

So many family members are now friends, especially those I haven’t even spoken to years. Ah well, such is life online.
