The Backpack Arrives

Axio Swift 2.0 Backpack

The brand new Axio Swift 2.0 backpack arrived yesterday and it’s really nice. Should be perfect for hauling stuff around on the motorcycle. It fits my 17″ laptop perfectly as well as my Canon Digital Rebel and extra 300mm lens. The stress of the last couple days kind of puts a damper on the mood though but I’m trying to focus on the positive things right now.

It’s been a rough month. Not the first and probably not the last but I’m hoping for better days. At least this little item allows me to travel where I need to with what I need to travel with.

Normal backpacks flop around and can throw your balance off when on a motorcycle which can be very dangerous. This is actually very comfortable to wear and fits securely. I still wish it was waterproof but I guess you can’t have everything. All in the name of saving money which, these days is the name of the game.

Good Morning, Monday

Good Morning

Well the weekend is over once again and now it’s time to get back to it. Overall it was a decent weekend though Saturday was pretty much non-stop rain. Friday night was spent just hanging out with Vinny down at his place.

Zak and I had to walk down to Roxy’s to watch the Ohio State game since it wasn’t on anywhere in the building. It was a blowout but then again it should have been.

Yesterday was by far the best day of the weekend. The sun was out and Jamie and I went for a morning ride up north to Jupiter and beyond. Stopped at Starbucks for a Frappuccino then back down to the Square Grouper for some lunch. From there it was off to the pool to even out the farmer’s tans we got from riding the motorcycles.

Now it’s Monday and the weather forecast looks like hell. Rain, rain all week long. Looks like I won’t be doing much riding this week.

We did have surf this weekend but I wasn’t going to push my back on it. Not sure if it was a pinched nerve or what but I’d rather take it easy for a few more days before pushing it again.

A Nice Night Ride

Nice little short night ride

Up until last night I had yet to take the new bike out at night. I’ve become pretty used to it so far so I geared up and headed over to Palm Beach (island) last night where there’s a really nice little spot along the beach where you can park but to my knowledge no one goes. There’s really no beach access and the wall you’d have to jump you probably couldn’t get back up once you made the leap. Regardless it was a nice escape last night and a nice little ride up the island.

I just kind of chilled there for about 20 minutes and took in the smells and sounds of the beach. The air temperature was also quite nice, no traffic at all just a really relaxing trip. The spot is only about five miles from me up the island at best.

On my way back I swung through City Place and it was loaded with motorcycles. Looks like I wasn’t the only one with the night ride idea. Of course those guys are probably hauling ass around town, I just wanted to relax and enjoy a rainless, cloudless night in West Palm Beach.

Axio Swift 2.0 Harshell Backpack

Hardshell backpack

Jamie sent this over this morning. Looks like a decent backpack specially made for riding and carrying a 17″ laptop (if I have to). I’ve actually found it online in a couple other locations much cheaper so this is next on the purchase list. I’ve already ordered a couple waterproof items. One for the iPhone and one for various paperwork like registration, etc that I’ll have to keep in the bike at all times anyway.

So, I’m getting there.

Getting Used to It

It was an interesting weekend to say the least. Not too much pool excitement but the weekend as a whole was fun. Yesterday morning Jamie, Mike and I went for a ride out Indiantown Road (I think), a long straight stretch out west with little traffic and distractions. We had planned on heading down to Bostons in Delray but a huge storm impeded out progress.

Once we got home the pool just wasn’t cutting it for me so I completed the journey down to South Delray to visit Ramil. Nice little run down A1A. A little slow but relaxing.

I’m finally getting used to the bike and I think I only killed it a couple times yesterday (first gear’s still a little tricky). Now I just have to get used to checking the radar before heading out anywhere; getting stuck in the rain is never fun.
