Iron Man 2

Posted on May 20, 2010

Last night I finally made it over to Muvico to catch the new Iron Man movie. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed it but the lull in the middle was a bit long. Sam Rockwell’s character “Hammer” was a bit over the top annoying. Whiplash played by Mickey Rourke was especially disturbing but very well done.

They even poked a little jab at Captain America (which no one in my theater got at all so I laughed by myself). The appearance of Don Cheadle as Rhody was a good change. Scarlett Johansen was also a fantastic addition to the movie.

My favorite aspect of the movie was Rhody in the War Machine suite. Simply put… bad ass. The final half hour was non stop action that thankfully put the story building on hold.

So in closing, of course it’s going in my Library. Not quite as good as the first one but very close.

Where the Wild Things Are

I finally received this movie via Netflix over the weekend. It was a sweet little movie but not as good as the book I remembered as a kid. The little kid is kind of a brat and most of the movie was kind of sad. Life lessons, etc but the Wild Things were so well done. The costumes and character development was really kind of cool.

I think more kids probably liked this over the adults though it does kind of conjure up memories of being a wild little kid. Overall a good flick but it probably won’t make it into the DVD library.

Moon

Thanks to Netflix I had a chance to see this movie last night. Wow, what a mind bending movie. Really well written and Sam Rockwell is amazing.

Sam’s a lone worker on the Moon harvesting H3 for energy. His 3 year contract is almost up so he can go home to see his wife and kid but when he goes out to check something out he ends up saving another person…himself. Really really good. Definitely a great watch.

Avatar Was Amazing

All I have to say is wow, this movie was amazing. I had a chance to see it in 3d at Muvico down the street and wow. Stunning visual effects and a pretty good story line, though the previews do give away quite a bit if you pay attention.

It’s definitely a must see movie. I’m not sure about the “future of movies” comment everyone seems to be making. It’s an evolution of how movies are made but it’s still a movie never the less.

The overall production cost of Avatar was 300 million and it made over 274 million on opening weekend… not bad at all.

If you have a chance to catch this visual stunner before it leaves theaters definitely do so. You won’t be disappointed.

Just saw this on WWTDD and had to repost it. Warning… some dirty language, haha. There’s just something funny about a 12 year old hit woman. Ah, take a look you’ll see what I mean.
