I made my way down to City Place over the weekend and finally saw X-Men origins. Excellent film and probably my favorite of the entire X-Men movie collection. It’s follows Wolverine and his brother Sabertooth through their very long and dangerous lives from early childhood, through every American war and up to the beginning of the Xavier School for Gifted Youths. You get the point. One thing I was fairly stoked about was the fact that they did show Wolverine’s original claws which were nothing more than bones jutting out from his hands, as opposed to the adimantium knives we’re all used to seeing. Lev Schriber was fantastic and the overall epic story is worth the price for theater admission, if not more. Guest appearances by some of my favorite originals such as Deadpool and Gambit are a major bonus, though neither character had a majorly significant role....

I had a chance the other night to head down to City Place and catch the newest installment of Star Trek. A movie that, like the latest few Batman movies has high hopes of reinvigorating a franchise. In that, I actually think it may have succeeded. Now I’ve never been much of a Star Trek fan, and really never watched any of the TV shows but I’ve sat through my fair share of Star Trek movies. This one is worth the movie ticket price. Loads of action, decent story line and talented cast add a stylish spin to an aging...

Phil, Davis and I went to see the Watchmen last night and it pretty much rocked, though the guy up in the booth must have been deaf (or we’re just getting old) because there were times during the movie where it was extremely too loud. Maybe we ARE getting old. Anyway, the movie was phenomenal. Dark, gritty, dramatic and thought provoking. An unfiltered look at super heroes that’s really never seen the silver screen. Not meant for children (and some scenes, even older children) this movie joins politics, global crisis, war, energy consumption all around a murder of the Comedian,...

Even with moderate expectations I was really blown away by this movie. It was so good it’s hard to even put into words and yes, that’s rare. I had an opportunity to go and see this last night and when left the theater I was in a sate of awe. The story takes you along the journey of two brothers who’s mother was killed while they were very young. They’re joined by a little girl named Latika who’s also in the same predicament. Living in dumps and in slums on trash and handouts it’s really amazing how they survived. Each...

Wow, what a great movie. I had a chance to see this flick on Friday in Boca at Muvico and honestly I didn’t have high expectations about the film. The premise is (if you don’t know) that an ex-spy’s daughter goes to Paris and gets kidnapped and Liam Neeson goes on a rampage to find her. The first 15 minutes or so are really slow and you kind of want to smack the girl (Liam Neeson’s daughter) yourself. Such an annoying little brat and when she is finally “taken” your kind of relieved. At least then you know the actual...

Friday night D. and I hit Muvico here in West Palm Beach before heading out for a few drinks. We were going to catch Gran Turismo but we missed the opening time by about 20 minutes. Defiance was pretty good, hell it had me a little weepy a few times. Yeah, I said it…weepy. I’m not sure I’d add it to the collection, sometimes once is enough for heavy hearted movies like this one but the story stands on it’s own. Good flick....

I’d have to say this one’s a waste of time. The story’s not bad and the special effects we’ve all pretty much seen on TV, it’s the little annoying kid that they spend way too much time on. You really just want to smack him. Seems like a Disney movie almost. Instead of spending time on the actual story they follow this little brat and his mom around far too much. Klatu, (Keano Reeves) is a typical character played by him, slightly deadpan. Kind of mix between Neo and Johnny Neumonic, short emotionless sentences, black suite and tie, etc. Overall...
