It looks like we got a live one. This one’s heading right for us and is more than likely the reason we’ll be getting some big surf this coming weekend. The Weather Channel has officially declared it a tropical storm and could possibly be a hurricane by weeks end when it hits South Florida. Here’s the link to the video Now lets see how the locals deal with the upcoming storm. I say, bring it on. It’s about time we had some big surf....

This coming weekend is going to be an interesting one when it comes to surf (if the report stands the rest of the week). They’re calling for 12.5 foot surf coming this Sunday…now it’s just a matter of hoping it’s not some crazy wind chop. More than likely it will be but it should be fun regardless. It’s time to dust off the old Seven Fish and cross my fingers for some decent waves. Keep an eye on the surf cams, here comes some surf....

Yesterday we had a little bit of surf and I was dying to try out the new beach cruiser and the Mule surfboard carrier so I thought, what the hell…I’m going surfing. The sets were small but I was able to catch half a dozen good little rides. The water felt like bathwater, so warm and full of sea grapes and vegetation but it was worth the effort. The new beach cruiser works perfectly and the one gear is set to just the right speed, nice comfy seat and my own personal addition… the cup holder. Hey, it’s the little...

Yesterday, during one of my quick runs to the beach right before lunch I was both pleasantly surprised and disheartened by the sight of a group of about 20 surfers all lined up waiting for perfect little 3 foot glassy waves. Perfect little peelers on a super glassy, sun-shiny day. Ugh, and this was at noon so in order for me to have any chance of going surfing the swell would have to last at least 4-5 hours allowing me time to finish work and get my ass to the beach. Unfortunately, this didn’t happen. At least I had a...

Sunday afternoon I got the call there may be a little surf over at Palm Beach so obviously I had to take a quick run out on the motorcycle and check it out. Sure enough, there was a 1-3ft surf so I made a snap decision and packed up the board and headed out. I recently bought a Mule surfboard carrier to make it easy to get the longboard out to the beach. I only have a crappy mountain bike so that made it a bit rough but it was worth it to get back in the water. I have...

I actually just wanted an excuse to post this picture of Gonzo as Hunter S. Thompson and Animal as his attorney. It’s been hot as hell lately which makes it tough to take a ride to the beach except for in the mornings and evenings. Each stop light is like an oven. Yesterday was the summer solstice which means for the next six months the days will gradually get shorter and shorter. This also means summer is just about halfway over which may be bad news for some of you. For me, I’m always welcoming winter in South Florida. There’s...

Walking down to the gym today I noticed this sign up on the building a few doors down from Oshea’s (used to be Ray’s house of Blues). My buddy Gene has been working all week for the grand opening on July 2nd, chock full of long boards, great food and music (hopefully). Hey if it’s anything like Kahuna’s in Deerfield beach I’ll be stoked! The idea is promising and right up my alley. Vintage longboards on the walls, a surfboard shaped bar and the fact it’s less than a 500 feet from my front door… well the odds are looking...

I took this shot on a quick and incredibly muggy/ hot ride to the beach around lunch. There was a little children’s surf camp on the beach trying to get kids used to the boards. Too bad there’s no surf…wow that’s flat....

It looks like there’s a little surf out there but according to the forecast it should be bigger tomorrow. They’re only calling for 2-3 feet but it is summer so we’ll take what we can get....
