Really Frustrated With My Server
I’m either moving servers or I’m making some serious changes to my account at EZ-WEbHosting. I’ve been with them for years and only have a few sites up on my server. I’m currently running my personal portfolio (MyNameIsDamien.com), my company site (RockwellDesignStudio.com), this site and even the charity site for my old friend Joe (EveryonesJoe.com). All are wordpress sites and the only one that’s even active and updated is this one, and still I’m having server issues. I’m working with EZWEb to see if they can fix the problem so hopefully I’ll it resolved soon. Sorry for the downtime readers, it’s always annoying on my end as well.... Permalink

Server Issues
So, as you can probably tell by visiting the site in last week or so I’ve been quietly dealing with server issues. Most of which came about after updating to WordPress 3.1.1 and adding a plug-in called JetPack. Big mistake, especially when running a handful of WordPress sites on the same server cluster. Hopefully the issues have been alleviated but only time will tell. Thanks to the guys over at EZ-Web Hosting for getting it sorted out and rebooting my server when I couldn’t even get access to it. Just one more issue to deal with I guess. As you’re... Continue Reading

Rockwell Design Studio – I Finally Incorporated
I finally pulled the trigger and incorporated last week. It’s been so busy around here I haven’t had time to do anything with it (or update the blog for that matter). I did however get the full incorporation, corporate bank account and EIN which should save my ass come tax time. At least that’s what I’m hoping. All new clients and some old ones are all now going through Rockwell. After month, literally months of going over around 90 business names I kept coming back to Rockwell. It just rolls off the tongue and luckily http://www.rockwelldesignstudio.com was available. What luck!... Continue Reading

Finally, iPhone 3.1.2 Update Is Out
…now if it works I’ll be happy. Lately my (beloved) iPhone has been going to sleep and not coming back without a hard reboot. Such a pain, and it even used to happen during phone calls. Which was odd since I couldn’t even hang up once the call was done. The new 3.1.2 update promises to fix this little annoying issue (along with some others). So I’m running the update as I type. There’s really only one way to find out. Run it and hope the issue doesn’t come back. If it does, you can bet I’ll be back on... Continue Reading

Where You’re Coming From
Through the magic of Google analytics I can pretty much tell where you’re coming from which is sometimes surprising. Like “who do I know in Texas, Utah and Louisiana? Not sure but welcome to my site! I’ve been running this thing for years and aside from some bad relationship mistakes (writing about them on here) and hate mail it’s been fun. If you’re reading this on Facebook there’s a good reason for it. This is actually coming from my personal blog at http://www.damienkomala.com/ , not originally written on Facebook. It’s a syndication thing I think but I digress. I just... Continue Reading

MyNameIsDamien.com – Site Redesign
With the extra time I’ve been spending more and more time updating and polishing my online portfolio site in order to increase my odds of actually surviving this economic downturn. The site is a primary means of gathering possible freelance clientele and/or landing a new position as a Senior Designer/Developer at a South Florida web design firm. The site includes examples of my work both in the design and development realms as well as planning and site maintenance projects. A full skill-set and resume are also included. There are still quite a few adjustments that need to be made to... Continue Reading

The New Landing Page
I’ve never been a big fan of landing pages, especially when it comes to SEO (search engine optimization) but in this case it’s a worthwhile sacrifice. I really needed an easy way to separate my personal from my profession life. This has become very important since I hope to meeting people and networking around so there may be people out there looking me up for freelance and employment positions. So, here comes the landing page. I must apologize to my readers for the extra click to get into the blog but it’s a necessary evil at this point. There’s so... Continue Reading

My Ear Buds are Dying
Kind of disappointing but I guess they did last quite some time, though for $30 you’d think they’d last a bit longer. Over the weekend something must have happened to them because now only the left one will actually play anything. Luckily (and strangely enough) the mic on the right side works just fine. Mic as in what you talk into when using the iPhone. I practically live in these things when I’m not at work. Even when I’m home cooking dinner, working on my site, at the gym, even in the morning with my coffee getting ready I have... Continue Reading

iFitness iPhone App Review
After using Health Cubby for a while on my iPhone it left me a bit unimpressed. You really couldn’t track your workout very well and to honest, I’m not looking to decrease my waist size dramatically or lose weight. I really want to get a better tone and maybe get a bit bigger so the weight thing doesn’t really make sense. So I found iFitness which allows you to track all of your workout. Everything, and I mean everything. First you set up your individual workout (at least that’s how I did it) by adding pre-entered exercises to each workout... Continue Reading
