Leopard + DAVE Networking = Unneccissary
Alright, so I was a bit leery about running the new operating system on my machine this morning at work as time is short and I didn’t have time to make sure a network program we Mac users had to use in the office in order to connect to our internal server. As soon as I got to the office this morning it was a no go. So off to Thursby software to see what an upgrade was. Unfortunately I didn’t have the email used in the original purchase so I was forced to buy a whole new liscense. Shit, $119 just to get it to work. After three hours of working with the new stuff I began to notice some real issues with other software on my machine. For one thing my iPhone wouldn’t connect to iTunes and that’s an issue I can’t live with. So, I thought I’d run a full uninstall of DAVE and low and behold, OS 10.5.6 connected to the server just fine WITHOUT Dave networking software. Next came the phone call to Thursby to get my refund, and yes there were cool with it so thanks guys for that one. I did so much... Continue Reading

Sporting Leopard. Finally
As you all know I’m kind of a design nerd/apple freak so this weekend I made the leap to Leopard (Mac OS 10.5.6) and so far I’m digging it. The upgrade was painless (so far) and the built in Time Machine is freakin awesome. It backs up my entire system to an external drive and allows me to recover anything with the click of a button. Now it’s just a matter of cleaning my laptop off since the OS sucked up another 9gigs above my old operating system. So for most of the weekend I was on and off doing... Continue Reading

Apple In-Ear Headphones: The Follow Up
Yeah, so I ‘ve come to the conclusion that my little ears just aren’t meant for these buggers. I’ve tried several different headphones over the years and the only ones absolutely love are the Bose Over-Ear Headphones which I wear all day at work. I can’t really wear those to the gym or to run with without looking like a complete tool, haha. I guess later this afternoon I’ll have to make yet another trip back up to the Apple Store to return them and hopefully pick up a new pair that’ll stay in my ears a bit better when... What Do You Think? (The Twitter Question)
Ok, so I’m just going to ask and hope for a response. What do you guys think about the twitter feed on the right of my site…you know right next to my handsome photo –> Just curious. I’m not a big fan of “following people” on twitter and I really only subscribed and installed the apps/plugin’s to better update this site with what is “the life of Damien Komala” and all it’s boring splendor. I guess I should explain what following is on Twitter. Basically you can follow your friends or colleagues on here and every time they update their... Continue Reading

In-Ear Headphones from Apple
I know you guys are probably tired of hearing me go on and on about my apple laptop/iPhone/lifestyle but hey… get over it. I love this stuff, it’s like a technology cult and I’ve been a card carrying member since 1996. So anyway, last night while I was getting the whole iPhone thing sorted out I decided to break down and buy some in-ear headphones for it that won’t just fall out of my ears while I run, walk, yoga, whatever. My buddy Phil turned me on to these little marvels and now that I have them, let me tell... Continue Reading

New iPhone! Again!
Whew, after weeks of calls dropping on my phone I finally decided enough was enough. I restored the phone twice from iTunes backups and still the problem persisted. So tonight I headed up to Palm Beach Gardens Mall to the Apple Store to see if they could take a look at it. At first they wanted me to make an appointment with the Genius Bar but the first available time slot (after 6pm) was Friday around 6:47. Screw that! So I persisted until they gave me a temporary slot in-between other customers. Kind of like stand-by on an airplane. I... Continue Reading

Giving Twitter a Try
Giving Twitter a try once more. If you look to the right of this post you’ll see my “Twitter” activity. Little tidbits, thoughts and what-not throughout the day. I know I’ve been slacking this week but it’s been a busy one. I’ll try and keep up the twitter stuff since it a tiny application I can run from my desktop and iPhone that easily updates the blog. We’ll see how it goes.... Permalink

Finally, the Camera Arrives (sort of).
It’s been around a year since my place was broken into and some son of a bitch stole my Canon Digital Rebel and now I finally got it back. Well, not the exact same camera but one that’s pretty close. After doing some research online I found what I was looking for which also came with a pack of additional items. A really nice 300mm lense, the 25mm/80mm Canon lense, a case, 4GB card, (crappy) tripod, extra battery and cleaning kit. One thing that was disappointing was it was supposed to come with a silver body, I got the black... Continue Reading
