A couple weeks ago my neighbor Anne convinced me to try her Yoga studio downtown above Duffy’s in downtown West Palm Beach. It’s hot yoga so right off I was reluctant. The instructor that day is a good friend of hers…but to be honest she’s a bit of a bitch. I’ve been doing Yoga for years and I normally just hold a piece of gum against the inside of my cheek while doing yoga so I don’t have to stop, get a drink of water and lose my breathing. I’m not chewing gum during class, it just keeps my mouth moist. She just said, “no, spit it out” and held her hand out. So, quite matter-of-factly I just spit it out in her hand. Then the entire class she went on and about letting go of anger, etc and just would not shut the fuck up and let us enjoy our yoga practice. Like a passive aggressive tone throughout the entire class aimed at me. The class itself wasn’t even close to challenging and the only hard part was getting past the heat in the room and putting up with her tone. Needless to say I’m not going back. Here’s the kicker – last night my friend Anne invited Julie to go down and join her for a class. Right before the class though Anne found out some news that got her very very upset but they decided to go anyway. When they got there the teacher (her friend) didn’t even acknowledge that she was visibly upset and just wen on and on about releasing your emotions. Then she made a snide comment about my breathing saying it was annoying during my class. Side note: in my yoga class at my gym, which I love, they often say they miss the sound of my breath during class as it reminds them to breath properly and keeps the class in time and rhythm. Then she apparently spent the rest of the class not giving them a much needed Yoga practice but criticizing their form and telling them they’re doing everything wrong. So…. fuck that Twin Powers Yoga bitch. Yoga is for your students, not for you and they come to relax and relieve stress, not put up with your shit.

Last Monday my New iPad arrived in the mail! My office in Seattle had an incentive for January for my development team and we killed it so I was sitting in anticipation for a few months to get my hands on it. So far I’m completely loving it. I can control my TV and my laptop from it as well has hundreds of other fun things. It is more like a toy so I’d never spend the money to get one (unless for some reason I was wealthy). Thanks to Sesame for getting this for me, it’s awesome!

At around 4:45 yesterday I checked the Palm Beach live surf cam in the hopes that maybe there was some swell in the water and got a great surprise! Perfect day to head out and catch some waves. Loaded the long board up and booked it to the beach. Perfect 3-5ft refraction swell with beautiful spray from offshore winds. The air temperature was a bit chilly but the water was warm. The long board was the perfect board to catch the wave but it broke a little fast for any long rides down the shoulder. As always it was sooo good to get in the water and take a couple hours to myself and get some surfing in. Very stoked to have not missed such a gift. Wish I could have stayed out a bit longer but I didn’t take my 1.5 mil wetsuit top and after an hour and half I was freezing. Photo taken from Wieland’s Web Wave

So yesterday was a tough day for little Bishop. 5 months and 5 days old today and yesterday he got his little balls removed. He was really out of it last night and just wanted to sleep, probably from the medication. Today he’s on antibiotics and pain killers/anti-inflamitories. His appetite is good and aside from really not enjoying the Cone of Shame he’s doing really great. I let him sleep in the cage last night and there he stayed until around 4am this morning when he came to and wanted his Daddy. So for the rest of the morning he did his best to snuggle with the cone on. He’ll have to wear the damn thing for a week to ten days so it’s going to be a long one. At least he’s not freaked out by it like Winston was. Every time Winston hit it against something or it hit the ground he’d freak out and run…often times into something else which would freak him out even more. He’s a tough little pup. I can’t wait till he’s back to his usual self again.

This little guy is constantly keeping a smile on my face. We’ve had our rough patches but I think we’re back on track for training, etc. So far he’s got “sit” and “come” down. Lately I’ve been working on “get busy”, which is a command to go to the bathroom. Usually if I say it and there’s a pee pad in the same room he’ll go pee which is great. Now if I could get him to do #2 when I say it, that would be awesome. I know this is going to sound disgusting but lately he’s been eating poo so I’m working on that too. Tried hot sauce on it, he’d leave it along and poop next to it and eat that instead. Gross. Still not sure why he’s doing it but there are several theories. The need to keep the floor/house clean Too little or too much food given It’s just the way he is, dogs are scavengers and that’s what they do Over punishment for pooping so he’s hiding it (earning the nickname “Shit Ninja” So now I’ve tried several options, even an additive to his food to keep him from eating it. Still didn’t work. So now he can do no wrong and doens’t get scolded for going to the bathroom. If he does it in the right spot and doesn’t eat it he gets a treat and praise. If not, I just clean it up. So as far as the little guy that’s what we’re dealing with. I look forward to lunch every day and our little lunch time naps (usually have both Winston and Bishop here for lunch). They both curl up on top of me and sleep for 20 minutes or so. My warm “doggy blanket”. Bishop still needs another round of shots before I can take him outside and begin the real potty training. That’ll make life so much easier so I have to wait another two weeks.

So now I’ve tried several options, even an additive to his food to keep him from eating it.
