Hell we had the game a couple times and with only 15 seconds left on the clock Texas punches through and scores a touchdown putthing them ahead by 3. WTF!!!!!! I went to bed after that, didn’t even stay up to watch the extra point.

What a freakin’ let down. Hopefully I can get over just one more bowl loss before the season starts next year. Our only hope is going to be Pryor and his ability to pull us through. Otherwise I think it’s going to be a long year.

Post New Years - after suviving yet another mediocre New Years I finally got to surf on Friday, whoo hoo! Jupiter was calling for 2-3 ft but it was nearly 4-5 ft on a lot of sets. Kite Beach was bombing and all I had with me was the longboard. Which, as it turns out, was a bitch to get out past the breakers but after much work I punched through. After that it was just a matter of bailing on the wave before you get caught inside the break again and have to battle your way back.

I caught a ton of rides and ended the day after three hours of hard surf with a grin.

Friday night I headed down to Boca to hang with my friend Jo and the rest of the Brazilians. Saturday was bouncing around Delray with my friend D. I even got to run into Kristine and Ramil in the process so it was a good time.

Sunday was a nothing day pretty much though I did pick up The Chad from the airport around midnight, then sat outside Oshea’s for a couple beers before calling it a night.

I turned on the GPS tracker on my iPhone over New Years so I could see every place I went. Eli and I headed around town and just kind of bar hopped a bit. Hell, we didn’t really get trashed or anything and I ended up home by around 2. Of course I ran into Trish after New Years but it was OK.

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas, no matter where you are and who you’re with.

Yeah, so my idea of decorating is as simple as hanging a few black and white framed photos, buying a new living room rug and pillows for the couch but hey, it’s a start. I had the day off of work yesterday (still trying to burn through my remaining vacation days) and I had nothing to do so I headed down to Lowes to re-check out their floor rugs. Exciting, yeah I know. After picking one out I needed to change up the pillows on the couches so off to Pier 1.

Kind of makes the living room a bit more comfortable and homey (not like Homey the clown). I also straightened up the furniture on a grid instead of at an angle and found that even though it’s a little boring I get a lot more space in here.

I’d have to say this one’s a waste of time. The story’s not bad and the special effects we’ve all pretty much seen on TV, it’s the little annoying kid that they spend way too much time on. You really just want to smack him. Seems like a Disney movie almost. Instead of spending time on the actual story they follow this little brat and his mom around far too much. Klatu, (Keano Reeves) is a typical character played by him, slightly deadpan. Kind of mix between Neo and Johnny Neumonic, short emotionless sentences, black suite and tie, etc.

Overall it’s not the worst movie I’ve seen in a while but I’d wait for it to come on DVD. The image above is from the website for the movie.

On the way back though things got a little rocky. Our captain actually hit a pilon/pole which should have been lit but for some reason it wasn’t. That was interesting to say the least. Drinks flying everywhere, little Nicole got kind of banged up while on the bow but overall we made it unscathed. Lucky I guess.

From there it was off to the bars for a few more, like we needed them. After that it’s all kind of a blur. I did make it home on time so I’m not sure what happened to everyone else. Bill sent me a text saying everyone was at Bradley’s where they got kicked out so I have no idea what happened.

Thanks to Bill, this year’s holiday shin-dig was a blast.

First we went to Taverna Opa so he could ogle the bartender. Sat there for a couple beers and then walked over to Blue Martini for a change of scenery.

After our first beer a couple of girls came up and sat down at our table. Not ugly by any means but not 10’s either. We entertained them for a minute or two then they asked us if we’d join them for dinner at Ruth’s Chris. I said I wouldn’t mind getting a quick bite but doubtfully a full dinner. The conversaton kept going and Eli were closing out our tabs when I asked the seemingly obvious question:

So, do you expect me to pay for your dinner?

The answer was “…of course, isn’t that how it works?”

….No, it’s not how it works. You don’t sit down and invite someone to dinner and expect them to pay just because he’s a guy. Basically I asked her if she was “fucking serious?”, are you kidding me?! I told her no way, you’re out of your mind if you think I’m buy YOU dinner, especially if you just sat down out of the blue and expected some stranger to pay your way.

Things like this are what’s making me really despise the women here in West Palm Beach. Geez, the nerve of this chick!

A few more weeks and I’ll be back to visiting the man-spa, it’s just a matter of time. Until then I’ll look…let’s just a… a little off.

I’m not sure why it bothered me. Whether it was that she forgot my birthday, or that she was happy on my birthday and for the most part I was miserable. Regardless it left me with that empty meaningless feeling all night. The only plus for the entire day were the birthday wishes on my Facebook page from friends all over the world. I just wish I could have celebrated with them instead of spending one more miserable night out in West Palm.

I know it all sounds miserable and selfish but at the moment that’s pretty much how I feel. I hate being single, I’ve come to that conclusion. The holiday’s make it that much worse.

Paintball’s officially been canceled for our office holiday thing this year. I had originally bailed on the event after I came to the very real realization that I’ll more than likely be drunk this Saturday morning. Now we’re just having dinner and drinks (I think) which is cool with me.

Just messing around with the new camera, trying out night settings and getting some interesting shots. Check em out.

Ah well, two days off of work and hopefully put in the bottom of the stack for Jury Duty.

I guess I’ll find out soon enough what’s going on.

Here’s the issue, my birthday is on Friday the 12th and even though I’m turning a year older I still have the urge to go out and act like I’m still in my 20’s on my birthday. That means getting pretty much black-out drunk with friends and neighbors (and whoever else I may run into). So more than likely one of two… ok three things will occur:

1. I’ll wake up so hungover I won’t be able to move
2. I’ll wake up still drunk… probably not a good idea for paintball
3. I’ll wake up feeling fine, in which case I’ll head over and try to join them, maybe a bit late but join them none-the-less.

Though the odds of #3 happening are pretty low I really needed to let Bill know not to include me in the slaughter. I really do want to shoot someone with a paintball gun but not if it involves me in a hungover fog.

I recently read this great article on 43Folders the other day and it makes a lot of sense, especially for a person just beginning to re-explore photography a bit deeper. Basically the author carries around his camera almost everywhere he goes and snaps off tons of photos. It’s not about looking like tool with a camera, its about taking the time to evaluate your surroundings and having the courage to stop and shoot no matter what.

Kind of motivation and inspiration to cast aside the fear of “looking like a moron with a camera” and just getting out there and shooting. Most shot’s you take will be crap but the good ones will stand out, and now that most people shoot digital it doesn’t matter how many shots you take. You can just evaluate and delete the ones that don’t make the cut.

I received a phone call from my surf bro, Dan today and he gave me some good/bad news. He works in customs at Miami Airport and he’s been waiting for a few years for a specific job to open up. Well, it finally happened…the only, well one of the drawbacks is he has to move to the keys. The KEYS!!! Yeah, I’m sure to most of you that’d be pretty cool but he’s not stoked about it at all. NO surf in the keys, none and he really doesn’t want to move. He was hoping for a position in West Palm (so was I) but that won’t be available for a couple years so he’s got to stick it out.

He’s stoked to get the job and it’s a good career move but requires six more months of training and he has to uproot his little family (new baby girl) and move down to never-ending flatness. He’ll even be away from his wife and daughter for Christmas and before New Years he’s M.I.A. for six months in BFE Georgia.

Sorry about the news bro, that really sucks. We’ll miss you around here.
