Ernesto is just about to make landfall in Miami in the next few hours and then slowly head north dumping massive amounts of rain. As of noon today it’s still a tropical storm with sustained winds around 45 mph. What it does in the next few hours will dictate how it will effect us here in Palm Beach County. After hitting the warm waters of the Gulf Stream it could strengthen and become a category 1 or 2 hurricane by tonight. Because of it’s overall slow moving speed it’s really drenching the effected areas and flooding is the primary concern.
As far as surf goes, it’s not really picking anything up. Ramil and Pat have both called in the local surf reports and so far it’s not anything special. If we get anything it’ll be some gnarly wind chop. We’re not even sure it’s going to be rideable but we’re keeping an eye on the surf cams until they go down from the storm.
As usual I’ll have the Canon SD30 on hand to document as much as possible. Probably take a few videos as well but we’ll see how things go. Video doesn’t take too well in the dark.
So wish us all luck down here in the Sunshine State.
