Last night’s after work surf trip up to Jupiter turned out pretty good and overall much better than surfing freakin’ Palm Beach. For some reason I was just in the mood to surf el solo and kind of collect myself.
When I arrived the outside was cranking through with nice 3-4 foot walls, kind of closing out but still looked like a lot of fun. I packed the 7’7″ and the log for good measure. Made the call to unstrap the Robert August 8’2″ and hit it.
Nice long paddle out and it was solid ground swell so you weren’t fighting wind chop constantly. Just waited for my window and made it to the lineup. Once there it was a good 3-5 minute wait in between sets but they were worth the wait. Steady little walls allowing a drop and a turn or two before collapsing itself. Just what I needed, a good day in the water. The clouds parted and the sun came out as it set in the west. A nice end to a weary day.
Ramil mentioned today was the THE day to get in the water so depending on the happy hour plans (that may or may not come to fruition) I may be back at it up in Jupiter. My quiet watery place of contemplation and surfing solitude.
Would have been nice to have someone else out there but I think it was just what I needed. (photo above not from by nor is it from Jupiter. Just a nice mellow surf shot)
