That was fun. It was also really good to see my buddy Jay again. We’ve got to hang out one weekend pretty soon. The flight was pretty smooth on the way there though the landing was a bit drawn out. Tampa’s airport had shut down all but one runway so we were landing on the main commercial runway. On our approach there were three huge commercial jetliners just waiting for little ole’ us to touchdown so we waved as we passed them and then got the hell off the runway.
On the way back, the afternoon storms were picking up so the winds were kicking. Just a little bumpy but fun. Bill handed me the stick after we leveled off at 3,500 ft. Flying through turbulence is a bit challenging but I didn’t do a bad job if you ask me. I don’t know how I did if you ask Bill but I didn’t crash the plane so couldn’t done that bad.
By the time we made it Palm Beach airspace there were two big thunderstorms ahead of us. Mucho lightning! So we took a gamble and headed for the gap hoping it would open up by the time we got there. We guessed correctly and made it through unscathed. Check out the photos and you’ll see the radar.
