Motorcycle Classes – Day 1

So the first day of classes was pretty cool. We started out with an hour or so of book time then straight to the course. Of course I had to get up at 5:30 am so by the time it was time to get out of there I needed a serious nap.

We started out on the very basics, walking the bike, getting used to the clutch and gradually moved up to riding around cones, corners, weaving, hard breaking, shifting gears, etc. Felt good to be on a bike and by the end the comfort level was nice. Some slow turns are still a bit hard but I think I’ve got it.

The day was hot as hell, around 96 degrees and sitting still waiting for your turn it was instant swamp ass. Long sleeve shirt, gloves, full face helmet, jeans and boots…yeah it was hot.

Today we’re looking at clear weather so it’ll be even hotter. Morning book work, the test then off to the course once again. I’ve met a few cool dudes that know how to ride so I’m sticking with them. Some have more trouble than others and often slow the class to standstill but overall everyone’s doing well.

At the end of the day it’s course test time then if you pass they hand over a certification card (so I’m told) and then it’s off to the DMV for the official motorcycle endorsement.

Wish me luck!
