Joe and Me

We lost a good one over the weekend. I was in complete shock when I got the call from my old roommate Shawn. Joe had moved to New Zealand over a year ago and had been bouncing around that portion of the globe for a while.

He was on his way back home for the holidays, stopping off in Laos for a three day thing before jetting off to California to hang out with Shawn, then off to Cleveland to be with family.

He was about 100 feet in front of his traveling buddy on a scooter when he took a left turn into oncoming traffic. His friend held him until the ambulance arrived but Joe never made it to the hospital.

He was like a brother to me and my heart aches to know he’s not around anymore. Before he moved to NZ he spent a week with us down here in South Florida. Joe was always smiling regardless of what was going on, a great friend and one of the finest human beings on the planet.

You will be missed, Joey. You will be missed.
